My assumption: There will be use cases where cost of using this will be smaller than the gain from it. Data from this will make the next version better and cheaper.
The green card queues for employment based green cards for China born applicants tell another story

Even per capita more Chinese are leaving the country for US than the other way round.

You shouldn’t make it so obvious, lol. Thanks for the laughs. Much needed.

AOC is against taxes and other countries paying their fair share?

She realized prices are going up just now?

Re:Inheriting is becoming nearly as important as working on Friday February 28, 2025 @10:49PM (#43215640)
An easier solution would be money not being power.

The same Gary Stevenson whose memoir claims Financial Times debunked?

Shouldn’t America’s resources (money, military support, Starlink, etc.) then belong to America?
So the US is within its rights to ban TikTok?
Mor businesses participating in health care should drive costs down.

Using a Chinese company for every thing except for distillation for which they used OpenAI lol.

A US Tiananmen-comparable example would be ChatGPT censoring George Floyd's death or killing of Native Americans, etc. ChatGPT doesn't censor these topics
Is there any evidence that this incidence was due to poor regulation?

Do you mean this or the response to it? How does one respond to fluff like this?

> AI’s workplace impact must align governance, social dialogue, innovation, trust, fairness, and public interest. We commit to advancing the AI Paris Summit agenda, reducing inequalities, promoting diversity, tackling gender imbalances, increasing training and human capital investment

Now imagine that but with everyone in that line except the leaders.

Show me a large scale society that hasn’t have both. This over commercialization may be needed as a buffer against hyper scarcity

I would rather live with ads than with literal bread lines my family stood in decades ago, in a socialist state (that funnily had more govt propaganda than ads).
Re:Northern California Cities Should Undercut PG&E Now on Sunday February 09, 2025 @02:51AM (#42989206)
Don’t blame this on the market. A true market won’t have a heavy handed regulator in bed with a govt approved monopoly.
But somehow you can use us as the world’s ATM!

Imagine a fraction of that going back to citizens!

The funny thing is Russia an China can claim to be less racist as they are homogenous societies.

They have a valid point about some of the funding. Example: Why should US fund WHO ~5-6 times more than China [0] (and more than EU) only to have the WHO be controlled by China [1, 2, 3]?

Somethings never change. Reminds me of this joke from Regan:

Two men, an American and a Russian were arguing. One said,

“in my country I can go to the white house walk to the president's office and pound the desk and say "Mr president! I don't like how you're running things in this country!"

"I can do that too!"

"Really?"

"Yes! I can go to the Kremlin, walk into the general secretary's office and pound the desk and say, Mr. secretary, I don't like how Reagan is running his country!"

Aren't Japan and Taiwan are ethnically homogenous?

> China looks at America and shows its citizens what an alternative fate could be, and it works.

Not really though. Still, around ~10k PhDs from China get green cards.

I am not sure if it can be quantified.

There is organic celebration which is good. But we should be wary of and point out astroturfing.

Are we going to pretend astroturfing is not a thing?

The US won't ban DeepSeek from US, but more likely we will ban DeepSeek (and other Chinese companies) from accessing US frontier models.

> Western tech gets mothballed because we stick our heads in the sand and pretend we are undisputed leaders of the world in tech, whereas it is slowly becoming disputable.

I am hearing Chinese tech is now the best and they achieved it with banning things left and right.

The US doesn't need to ban DeepSeek from US

The US should only ban DeepSeek (and other Chinese companies) from accessing US frontier models.

Banning worked for China all these decades.
