Show HN: Tailor: Edit Your Websites in the Browser with Llama3

Hey HN! I recently built Tailor (https://tailor.cryingpotato.com) as a way to speed up the dev cycle that comes with tweaking a website. My workflow to tweak websites was pretty painful - I’d change things in devtools until they looked visually correct, and then context-switch back to my terminal to apply relevant edits.Tailor makes that process much easier by keeping the edit loop fully in the...

This is really neat! Is there a paid product backing this or planned for the future? I'm curious what motivates all the dev hours going into it.

I've always been conflicted about the DFW speech as a wonderful tool to think about how to live from a man who seemed to have led a pretty troubled life. I keep coming back to the speech for its content, but can't help but think of the man who gave it when I do.

Yeah I totally agree with this! The crux of the speech for me is "To invent your own life's meaning is not easy, but it's still allowed, and I think you'll be happier for the trouble."

You should be able to click on the title to get to it, but thanks for posting here too!

A piece I read at least twice a year to understand how creative work is done - "Some thoughts on the real world by one who glimpsed it and fled"

A perspective on population growth that I haven’t seen before. It’s very long, so the tl;dr as I understand it is:

- Humanity has always survived through technological progress to support an increased number of people. Technology changes the carrying capacity of an environment.

- Whether or not we’ll be able to do this forever is unknown.

The underlying article itself has a lot more history and nuggets of information beyond this summary!

That’s useful feedback, I’ll try to put up an explainer modal. Thanks for trying it!

Me too - I put it off so much I went and built this first before trying the challenges!

Thanks for trying it out!

I prefilled the answer for week 1 was to help people understand the boilerplate needed better, but maybe that was giving too much away. I'll try putting something more minimal in.

Unfortunately you can't use the buttons inside the iframe because of CORS issues. Not sure if there's any easy workaround for that :(

Hey! I built a playground called Advent of Distributed Systems (https://aods.cryingpotato.com/) where you can work through the Fly.io distributed systems challenges (https://fly.io/dist-sys/1/) directly in your browser. Running challenges like this directly in the browser has often been the best way for me to get the activation energy to start them since it bypasses all the annoying dev...
