There are plenty of people that genuinely believe it’s going to cure cancer, solve all our problems, and end work.
It’s easy to hand wave that stuff as mysteries of the LLMs. Much stronger case now that these employees have spoken out about it. I hope they can point to specific cases.

At a guess, they are uncertain about the long term financial viability of selling their full IDEs, and development is cheap, so they are throwing up what they can to see what sticks, and will kill what doesn’t.
> If the price of gas weren’t so high, Republicans would be fairly happy with Trump

This is the sad truth. Imagine if he hadn't invaded Iran. He probably would manage to finagle a third term.

Apparently there's some skepticism about the Target pregnancy story. https://medium.com/@colin.fraser/target-didnt-figure-out-a-t...
for consumption as raisins? I think raisins come from a particular variety - wine grapes aren't even that good to eat fresh, I would guess they wouldn't make good raisins either.
The same thing is happening in Marlborough, NZ - the center of the wine industry in New Zealand. (And probably elsewhere in NZ, but Marlborough is where I grew up). All my life, every year has seen more and more vineyards throughout the valley, until a few years ago it began to slow and recently they've actually pulled some out, which is totally unheard of.

I understand the potential for abuse, but it is useful when I search for python and get programming languages and someone else gets snakes.

Doesn’t Musk’s twitter prevent you from saying ‘cisgender’?

Well, the Bible sort of compels you to share it, and in some societies you are economically and socially encouraged to do so.

I don’t know, I read this and think: if these unpredictable machines somehow get it into their heads to upload our source to a public space, or hack our competitors, or steal credit cards to buy more ec2 instances, all to fulfill some simple ask like “make this algorithm faster”, I’m not going to be happy.

I want tools that do not surprise me.

It’d be fairly easy to set up an experiment to validate if that were the case.

Or even setting bold would be nice.

That’s the same as a pushbike right?
Plenty of other services (like Spotify) stop showing you ads if you pay them enough money.

Splitgate matched new players with bots for the first few hours. It meant I had fun (then eventually I levelled up enough, matched with players, got stomped, and never picked it up again…)
I remember taking general ed classes in college that I didn't want to do but had to to get required credits.

Re:Grok 4.5 on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @10:54PM (#48840422)
I am inclined to agree but grok 4.5 seems to be almost SOTA. They could be frontier soon.
Re:Grok 4.5 on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @10:52PM (#48840408)
Out of curiosity, I just asked Grok and learned:

* Biden won the 2020 election

* vaccines do not cause autism

* global warming is not a conspiracy

In each case it seemed to do a web search so perhaps it is happy to rely on the top results.

There are plenty of places in the developed world where it just doesn't make financial sense to roll out fibre. In NZ about 90% of the country has fibre access... probably that number will creep a bit higher. But I doubt it'll ever reach 100%.

Whether or not Starlink can build a business on selling broadband to <10% of the developed world I don't know.

Billionaires also want vaccines, sometimes do they have our best interests in mind. They can’t extract wealth from the poor masses if we’re sick!
Would you use a value class if you wanted to represent a fraction?
Why can’t gifts have contracts?
