Highly recommend anyone in Chicago check out his exhibit at the Art Institute.
I’d also be curious of any current day architects carrying on his style or at least ethos.
I can 100% confidently say the average US buyer is not an auto enthusiast. Cars are appliances to the vast majority of people here.
There are multiple other factors for the relatively low adoption of EVs compared to China.
Seconded. I am also curious to what your ADHD plan is.
What, if any, alternative framework other than single payer could be put into place instead of our current hellscape?
Have health sharing plans been successful? Those require a religious affiliation IIRC.
I exclude single payer solely because it’s impossible with our current leadership.
I’m surprised there isn’t a Costco like medical group that’s nationwide, has a membership, and works solely to provide care efficiently.
My grandma is 83 and I could’ve written this exact same post.
I know it comes for everyone, but the pace of said spiral is frightening.
Wish we were in a timeframe with more alternatives for rapid loss of mobility and muscle.
Very impressive! How many jobs do you estimate this could displace?
What company if you don't mind? Sounds like work I've been interested in. Thanks!
Thanks for this. I have an impending move to Chicago and really haven't connected with the place the 6 or so times I've been the last year.
Maybe some history will help.
Maybe the current designers and product planners will peruse this and get inspired to make a decent looking car again*
*With actual steering feel and less gimmicks please
One overlooked feature of physical controls is that they also give interiors an identity and experience.
Growing up obsessed with cars, I loved seeing how different brands would lay out the cabin. Volvos from the 2000s used a rather large diagram of a seated person to select the HVAC vent for example.
Also, in my brain, a 3000+ pound object just dang requires some stuff to physically press, push, and hear click!
A couple giant touchscreens with touch controls nearly eliminates that.
We can get them to 30 with the help of Jake Perry's protocol.
-A breakfast of eggs, turkey bacon, broccoli and coffee … with cream
-A splash of red wine to “circulate the arteries”
-Stimulation by way of nature documentaries screened in his garage-turned-theater
-Lots of love and attention

I wonder why this is getting downvoted as I've had this exact same thought.
A most efficient insurance program would be a closed loop.
Any leftover money not spent on care would be used to reduce premiums the following year and/or be saved for higher claim years.
I wonder how that could exist in the US? Perhaps these health sharing ministries are as close as we'll get: https://www.medishare.com/
What a lovely read and solution.
My sister has a disability making independent living a challenge. Although I have 0 technical background, I need to start thinking and brainstorming in this manner.
Neat! Do you pick up the bulbs as needed from an auto parts store? Or do you keep a supply on hand?
I think you want to keep this as simple as possible, but I see headlight restoration (which can be done in 30min) and wiper blade replacement complementing this nicely.
What I immediately thought as well.
Very nice!
I've had an idea for a dock that turns your smartphone into a landline of sorts. Plugs into an actual corded phone base and only rings the physical landline phone.
Thank you. Yeah definitely a shot in the dark.
My mind was initially thinking of an AI assistant focused on guiding users through daily tasks (personal hygiene, locking doors, etc).
Advancements in robotics made me wonder if there was something wearable to enhance one's motor skills.

Hi HN, as a family member to someone with an Intellectual/Developmental Disability [0], I am wondering if there are any startups, products, advancements directly or indirectly addressing this population.I know it's a broad umbrella, as not only do many different disabilities exist, but their severity as well. For the people I am often around, living independently is the most shared goal. That in...

Hi HN, I've been helping a truly wonderful lady with basic computer and YouTube tasks. That's evolved into her wanting me to take over website updates/management from the current person, who will not be doing it after a couple months. All I know is that: "it's currently edited using Macromedia Dreamweaver from 2004 and then the process entails fusing file transfer protocol to upload to the...
Congrats Tim, I'm going to buy a $19 Apple Polishing Cloth in celebration.
No, there is a way to know, just not the way you want to know.
Learn them by ear, no tabs, YT vids, or anything else. Much more gratifying, you'll thank me later and become a better player.
Such a tech fantasy. Not everyone has a forlorn passion just waiting to escape once they don't have a workweek taking up time.
Menial jobs give meaning to leisure for many and are another form of socialization.
I think he’s implying if he had that outlet, maybe heroin would have never been encountered.
Hahah! For enthusiasts they absolutely are the fun parts. And I say this with plenty of seat time in EVs.
IMO EV sports cars will be mainly for style, as many of the fun parts will be gone: Feel of transmission shifting, actual engine sound, engine character (do you have to rev it out? Or is power instant?), and for the foreseeable future ICE will be lighter.
This book inspired the writing of 'Pyramid Song' by Radiohead.
