Is it actually a poparul game? I've never heard of it...
I did find this, which might be useful for anyone who ends up Googling and finding this thread:

(although I don't know why the knitting links are listed)

Ask HN: What payment company do you use that automatically apply EU VAT rates?

In 2015, EU rules mean VAT rates for sales to EU customers (for automatic online payments) have to be based on where the customer is.If I use stripe (which I do love, their API, their support etc), I'd have to manually set up VAT stuff. Some companies automate this (which makes it so much easier), such as http://www.fastspring.com/vat Fast Spring. What other companies do this? What company would...

It is meant to be like a switch (schematic symbol for a SPDT switch), i thought?

I believe Halo, one of the Xbox's most popular games, had its first version (first one you could buy, i mean) on Mac

"The firmware is password locked" - how did you enable this?

How is this on the front page?

Surely if you are coding something to use this, you would be able to write the 30-odd lines that these sql statements are...

also table names like "UserUserRole" don't look right to me.

What would be the reason for this:

// analytics disable if url contains underscore try { if(window.location.href.indexOf('_') > 0) {window['ga-disable-UA-20753548-1'] = true;} } catch(e) {} });

i agree, but if you highlight it, it is much easier on the eyes.

tired.com is my favourite of this kind
Why don't people want copyright? Say you wrote a book. Why should other companies/other people be able to copy it just because a certain number of years has passed?
they are one time use though
Say i have a facebook page with 100k followers. I can then say "check out this awesome page about ....", put it through one of those services. I'll then get $x per 1,000 clicks. Of course, my facebook page readers will have to sit through a second or two of adverts, but i'll get $$.
But with new OS versions, older phones quickly start to show their age. An iphone 4 or iphone 4s on the latest version of iOS it supports is really sluggish and slow (and no easy way to put iOS6/7 back on it)
Re:iPhone SE on Monday March 21, 2016 @09:04PM (#11333645)
wow, this works.

The 3d touch 'trackpad' thing on the keyboard is great, but i could never get it to reliabily work... but i think using this (slight push, then harder again) makes it almost completely usable.

Re:Why Tesla Motors Finally Acquired Tesla.com on Thursday March 17, 2016 @10:46AM (#11304630)
And what about people who just want a small blog or personal site? They won't want to spend $1000 just for that, and a huge percent would use a subdomain of a company like microsoft, google etc (like with @gmail.com, @hotmail.com etc)
Re:Syntax Highlighting Off on Sunday March 13, 2016 @08:18AM (#11277417)
Yeah, syntax highlighting definitely makes things easier to scan and quickly process a file in my head.

It also helps with instantly seeing if you are missing a "/' (or used the wrong one to terminate a string variable), as the rest of the line/file has the wrong colours.

where do people even go to start to sell an exploit? how does that kind of stuff work?
Re:Beautiful Racket on Saturday March 05, 2016 @02:44AM (#11228800)
The IDE i use (phpstorm) - i load it once, and it just sits in the background until i restart or logout. I can't see how load time is really a big deal? unless you're talking 5+ min?
Is there a well known tool to check for this?
Re:Map of battles fought since 2500 B.C on Tuesday February 23, 2016 @07:49PM (#11163638)
I don't think its too accurate. I put in a date range for the last couple of decades, and it says there was a battle in northern England for the 2008 euros. Hardly what anyone would call a battle...
I mostly use iOS (my phone) but i have an android tablet. From the few apps on my android tablet it seems they are lower quality, have more ads, and i have much much fewer apps on my android than ios mostly because of these reasons. It isn't a surprise that there are more Google downloads than app store downloads.
If i understand what you mean correctly, this is what tripit.com does (and they do it very well). I just forward plane/hotel bookings and it get imported into my account straight away.

Re:We paid $10k for a domain and all we got was less traffic on Tuesday January 05, 2016 @06:34PM (#10847055)
Whenever moving domains you risk losing traffic from organic search (although generally it won't be significant if you do it properly)

I thought it was going to be because people were typing in http://crew.com rather than crew.co
