Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:52PM (#50122740)
To all people responding purchase a used car, I forgot to add that I don’t want to spend another 25k on repairs please
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @01:54PM (#50121861)
I need a cheap car. Sub 25k that I can use to drop my kids and get groceries and is electric so I can get some respite from these war inflated gas prices. Nobody is offering this. I dont need all the fancy gadgets and the flying and the jumping.

Looks like it truly is a K shaped economy. Flying cars for 1% and loans for the rest

Re:Apple Core AI Framework on Monday June 08, 2026 @09:06PM (#48454807)
Do we know what is the underlying model? Is it a custome model developed by Apple or one of gemma/deepseeks under the hood
Isn’t the answer buy a kvm switch? If yes this could have been really short
Very very cool. Thanks. Will explore
Is it required to tell Claude to re-read the code folder again when you come back some day later or should we ask Claude to just pickup from research.md file thus saving some tokens?
Wouldn’t this kind of setup eat away tokens at a very fast rate and even the max plan will be quickly overrun? Isn’t this a viable workflow to use Claude code to create just one pull request at a time, lightly review the code and allow it to be merged?

Are there any open source tools that scans the code and detects such gaffes
Re:Talent on Friday October 17, 2025 @12:01PM (#45618267)
I have always questioned, are the guys making pizza's, working minimum wage jobs wasting their talent or do they simply have no talent? Then I came across this short video : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4HnGbQ-vi8s

The line that stuck with me was how you do something is how you do everything.

I follow and indian mystic named Sadhguru who had the same advice. He said if you do not know yet what to get involved in, then do everything with absolute involvement.

This I think was also the core message of the movie Soul from Pixar.

We all might earn different amounts of money on our lives but all of us have the same ability to create a meaningful life for ourselves.

Re:The One-Person Framework in Practice on Monday April 28, 2025 @07:46PM (#43827326)
Is there any other framework which can claim that it compares well to Ruby on Rails speed of development? I.e. conventions over configurations? Asking as I don’t want to learn ruby
I have been wanting a tutorial like this. Thanks
Re:MongoDB Announces Acquisition of Voyage AI for $220M on Monday February 24, 2025 @05:00PM (#43165442)
True. I have that feeling many times that the enterprise crowd doesnt visits hacker news.
Re:MongoDB Announces Acquisition of Voyage AI for $220M on Monday February 24, 2025 @12:47PM (#43162501)
I understand the criticisms, but in my experience, MongoDB has come a long way. Many of the earlier issues people mention have been addressed. Features like sharding, built-in replication, and flexible schemas have made scaling large datasets much smoother for me. It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid choice.

Ask HN: Transitioning from Web Development to AI–Where to Start?

I've been a web developer my whole life and currently work in a support role at a FAANG-like company. I want to move into AI but don’t know where to start or which specialization to focus on.One thing I’m sure of: I don’t want to develop my own models but rather use existing ones effectively. Given my family responsibilities and where I am in life, I can’t afford to take a deep dive into...

I am in a similar boat. Many of us in similar boats would be very thankful if you can expand on what are the names of these consulting companies and how can we breakthrough?
uber is not repeat business. Some platforms with repeat business like upwork see this a lot
Can you elaborate more on how the expense split maths worked? Also why would the contractor wish to keep getting the business through the coop. Once they have the business, isnt it in their interest to make a direct deal for the next instalment of work?

What are the jobs that require social skills (except sales)?
Do you have a tutorial on how this tool can be used? Any backtest on how such alerts worked? Asking as a potential customer?
