Re:You can just port things to Cloudflare Workers
on Monday January 26, 2026 @04:16AM (#46763434)
As someone growing up with shared hosting, VPS and eventually K8s, I never really got Cloudflare's offering (apart from CDN/DDOS/DNS). I'm not sure if it's their positioning or if I never had the problems they're trying to solve, but it just doesn't click for me. Durable objects, Wrangler, D1, some custom Node.js API... it's all kind of opaque to me how it really solves any problem better than just using Postgres, Redis, etc on top of K8S or something like that.

Then the problem with this post boils down to applying the authorization layer in any tool call, just like you do in controllers. Seems obvious?

I‘ve had no success using Antigravity, which is a shame because the ideas are promising, but the execution so far is underwhelming. Haven‘t gotten past an initial plannin doc which is usually aborted due to model provider overload or rate limiting.

I use plan mode in claude code, then use gpt-5 in codex to review the plan and identify gaps and feed it back to claude. Results are amazing.

This only affects homeowners who live in their own property, not landlords. If you earn rent on your property, you will still pay income tax on it.

This is exactly my experience. It’s like Claude Code had a stroke during lunch, and when I return working it forgot how anything works.

I don't think that's universally true though. An example would be Logic, which Apple kept improving after buying it and it's still a great piece of software.

I don't think so, but imho it would be a no-brainer to have .cursorrules files support the same @Web @...files, @Docs syntax which cursor already has in Cmd+K

Re:VanillaJSX.com
on Saturday August 17, 2024 @06:14AM (#41273277)
No, writing XML was the declarative part of Flex (like HTML), but AS3 had it’s own XML type so you could do things like this:
var data:XML = <foo><bar>hello</bar></foo>
and then data was an object instance like you’d expect
Re:VanillaJSX.com

Reminds me of Action Script 3 which had XML at the core of the language. It was a fun language to work with, but famously failed to become ES4. Oh well, took us 10+ years to arrive close to that with Typescript and JSX.
Re:Cities Need More Trees
on Monday July 01, 2024 @06:26AM (#40844367)
Same in Zurich, where the city tries to establish a “Schwammstadt”. But the tree growth is actually negative, because on private properties people are chopping down their trees to build lucrative housing.
Re:Using ClickHouse to scale an events engine

Exactly, I've seen this at Sentry where you now have to run Kafka, Clickhouse, Redis, PG, Zookeeper, memcached and what have you. I get it, but the amount of baggage to handle is a bit difficult.
Re:Distributed SQLite: Paradigm shift or hype?
on Tuesday April 09, 2024 @02:47AM (#39976747)
You can slice it and dice it any way you want, really. The constraint is often what data needs to be written within a transaction. You'll have to figure our a way to reliably apply a consistent schema to all these database files somehow and keep track of them.
Re:Show HN: Little Fixes – a spatial forum to improve your city

My city has something similar based on fixmystreet, which is not focused on discussion but more on reporting: https://www.zueriwieneu.ch/reports
I love that my city responds so quick to any issues reported. Usually you get a reply the next day, and minor things are usually resolved within the week. One time a guy even facetimed me to figure out the exact spot where some metal was sticking out of the ground near a playground, which I had reported.

This already works with Crypto, something like Hedera is dirt cheap (1/100 of a cent) and fast and scales really well. Wallets are easy to connect, but the disconnect to regular $$$ is still a bit too big for the regular surfin' user.

That's builtin with <select multiple> but it's only usable on mobile.

Re:Tailwind vs. Semantic CSS
on Monday October 23, 2023 @05:20AM (#37983326)
I have rarely seen this work in practice in 20 years of CSS, but maybe in CSS Zen Garden. Yes, you can freely change the CSS. But usually changes are triggered by the HTML, like some information is added. This then requires you to change the CSS and likely break all sorts of other uses, which is not a problem with Tailwind.
