It's a monorepo. The "should work" commit you are referring to is about the formatting of the SSIDs in the WiFi network selection menu.

We aren't interested in an exit. Our mission is to "solve self driving cars while delivering shippable intermediaries"
Re:Autopilot on Cars for $999 on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @05:06PM (#26159360)
What format would you rather the model be saved in? ONNX is the most cross platform and standard as far as I know, and it's also what we use internally.

It's not like a PE format which is compiled from something else higher level.

I suspect you are thinking of a different startup. We have never interviewed anyone to be CEO.

We believe Tesla is 1-2 years ahead of us, and that's held fairly true since the beginning of comma.

Over 1,000 people just today. A couple thousand every week.

In addition to running on a laptop, openpilot also runs on a phone for easy mounting in your car.

Think you have the wrong startup. comma.ai has never interviewed anyone for business development positions.
Human latency is about 250ms.
There's no Android GC, there's a Java GC. Python on Android isn't written in Java, it's CPython, written in C.

Python has a GC as well, but we turn it off for the control loop processes. https://github.com/commaai/openpilot/blob/devel/selfdrive/co...

Haters love to bring up the Python, but they never stick around long enough to explain exactly why it's a problem.

Waymo's valuation is based on hype. They have no revenue.

We aren't trying to help big automotive companies, they are our competition. We are trying to disrupt them.

Ask our users if they feel similarly about it not being useful. https://slack.comma.ai
Not really. It's mostly subjective, but a good metric is time between user action needed. We did 2 hours of press demos on highways without a single one. (usually it's about an hour)

In addition to us, we have a community of users on slack with thousands of miles of experience with each system. I think most would generally agree with the quality assessment. You'll also find a bunch of YouTube videos comparing them.

You are aware we are giving away open source software that will control your car, right? It's online today! And it's on par with the best systems money can buy, Tesla Autopilot and GM Super Cruise.

No ability to deliver?

comma.ai here, happy to answer any questions.

The open source driving software is here: https://github.com/commaai/openpilot

We have a slack also if you are interested in this project: https://slack.comma.ai

If you think we are dead you clearly don't follow us on Twitter.

https://twitter.com/comma_ai

Follow us on twitter, we have multihour periscopes of driving. https://twitter.com/comma_ai
73 people are using our technology today, that's actually more than Cruise, even over a year later...
Lying about what? We've done numerous livestreams showing off the technology, and it's available for free on our github.

Follow us on twitter to see: https://twitter.com/comma_ai

Autonomous vehicle technology, and it's free --> https://github.com/commaai/openpilot

Where's the snake oil?

We don't plan on writing a nav app, the plan is just to improve the location fix at the system level and work with all nav apps.
Improved localization / nav is one of the goals of chffr. Through panda, we can use the car sensors for dead reckoning.

Combined with the phone camera, we can get and keep a really precise location fix.

Those are the three players with actual networks of deployed self driving cars today. Granted, we are in third with 73 cars (and 1000's on chffr), but well ahead of every other startup. Waymo has around 200, we expect to pass them by the end of the year.

In addition to this interface, we also give away source code to a driving agent: https://github.com/commaai/openpilot

Looks like this when running (video from a user): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VN1YcC83nA

Wrong, on certain cars it can be used to control all three.

We do deep learning from perception up to planning. And it's released.

Own the data and the network. We have 1000's of users and over 1M miles of data.
