Re:My deadly disease was just a 23andme bug on Monday November 25, 2013 @03:59PM (#6796967)
Hypothetically, if i were in OP's shoes and 'really' scared, I would be going to a genetic doctor instead of conducting my own research. (i would still look up stuff, but that would be too risky to depend on)
Re:The second operating system hiding in every mobile phone on Wednesday November 13, 2013 @12:55AM (#6723617)
as someone who closely works on qualcomm baseband processors, i can say that security is one of the top priorities of qualcomm. There are whole bunches of teams dedicated to sec/vuln analysis. Not saying that the issues mentioned in the article did not occur...but I believe that those probably occured in older chips (a few generations older)

standard disclaimer Views above are personal and do not reflect views of Qualcomm

perfectly describes some of the top mobile/chipset companies i have worked for. Some of the code is so horrible that you feel it might be worth the time rewriting it. But time is too precious...nobody has time to step back and analyze or point fingers. just get the code fix and ship to it the customer.
Re:Why Use Make on Sunday February 24, 2013 @03:08PM (#5275696)

Re:Moj.io: Connect your car to the world around you on Thursday November 29, 2012 @07:54PM (#4851278)

Re:Amazon Announces new Data Warehousing Product on Thursday November 29, 2012 @12:18AM (#4846371)
thats correct. i have heard that from a first hand source
it will boil down to corporate principles/culture that Apple has. It has to decide how much max resources it can dedicate to handling a small subset of affected user VS. potential media backlash that could be triggered if some of these 'minority' users are influential.
Re:BigDataBorat on Wednesday November 14, 2012 @07:29PM (#4786401)
Big Data Borat ‏@BigDataBorat Man with 1 database know data consistent. Man with 2 database never sure. Man with 3 database brag about it on hacker news. #bigdata

Re:Show HN: Choose Photo. Make Ascii on Thursday August 09, 2012 @02:58PM (#4362621)
what would really be cool is if someone creates a service that can turn videos into 'ascii art' videos....that would look beautiful...
Re:Critical Linux bug that leads 100% CPU (leap second) on Monday July 02, 2012 @10:16AM (#4188943)
well, our hadoop cluster went bonkers because of this bug....luckily it was on stage...not production!
