Re:Lists on Tuesday December 01, 2015 @12:18PM (#10657095)
Per the article, I am considering turning it into a social/sharing platform, where the content is user-defined lists of things. Thoughts on that?
Re:Lists on Tuesday December 01, 2015 @12:17PM (#10657088)
I created a little tool that helps you made lists of things with defined properties. For example, I can use it to make a list of houses I am thinking to buy, and also a list of my favorite movies. By being able to define the properties of the list item, you can make any kind of list. Check it out: https://listmakr.com

Thanks for the feedback! Will work on that bug and expanding image upload techniques (google image search is another method I am considering).

Thanks for the feedback :) The date type is on my to-do list, along with the appropriate views (like a timeline and a calendar). That'll make it easy to list historical events... or upcoming dates, etc.

Thank you! Funny you should mention "general purpose customizable CRUD app for small businesses". That's exactly what I started building, then decided to make a smaller, simpler version first - and so ListMakr was born.

Made with Phoenix, for all of you Elixir fans out there ;-)

Excellent points. Most people confuse macroeconomics with microeconomics. You cannot apply the principles of personal finance to a national economy.
Move as quickly as possible while maintaining a high level of accuracy/quality. Some people underestimate themselves, moving too slowly!
Re:Tech: Clinton wants to kick ISIS off Twitter on Thursday July 30, 2015 @11:11AM (#9975501)
Twitter is not a public service for the government to censor. Even when it comes to terrorist organizations.
> Businesses can't just raise prices and get more revenue. Right, businesses gauge how much consumers are willing to pay. If minimum wages go up and businesses raise prices while citing said minimum wage increases, consumers will likely be willing to pay the higher prices. Consumers generally won't tolerate price increases that are not justified. Those increases that are justified are more readily accepted. This is why I think businesses can and will pass higher minimum wage costs down to the consumer, successfully.
Check page seven of http://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/cps/characteristics-of-minim... for some insightful statistics.
This assumes that the economy is perfect, which is far from the truth. Prices are not already as high as they can be. Such a thing is meaningless in economics.

As long as these rookies aren't writing nuclear reactor firmware, who cares? Most of programming is mundane. Have them make CRUD apps while we experts work on something interesting ;)
Re:Ask HN: What skills would you invest in learning? on Monday July 27, 2015 @10:01AM (#9955221)
I'd recommend putting some time into learning how to change your body composition, improve your fitness, and control your mood. Better physiology improves all other aspects of one's life. Also practical psychology (why people do what they do, etc) is helpful. After that, learn how to create software.
I don't believe that raising the minimum wage will trigger businesses to cut jobs significantly. They will probably pass the higher cost onto the consumer. Ultimately, it's a method of wealth redistribution, which is sorely needed in our economy.
