I am working on a side project that I intend to launch soon and I am starting to thinking about the "sys" part of the project.I need pretty basic setup (a db server, a redis one, one for the rails app and a CDN). I am not a sys ops expert but with some work I can set these servers up.I don't want to use highly managed solutions like heroku, they are too expensive and knowing that I can set up...

I want to be able to hire freelancers and to give them documents that make our communication effortless and clear. Make them jobs as developers easier, any advice or good resource to suggest?

My pocket account has 2000+ items, most will be outdated now, most will never be read, most I don't even remember why are here..... I am struggling to managing (in the more material sense of it (tools/methods) and in the more idealogical sense of it(self discipline)) the ton information that I found every day...How do you deal with it?

There thoughts are kinda philosophical, but I feel like something is missing from the email "experience". Too many times experience feels old, frustrating.Maybe is because I am young (25years old) and I am more comfortable with ease of the chats. The experience that I feel most comfortable with when talking about email is gmail, but can't tell exactly why.I can't understand if these feelings...

I am having an unexpected difficulty to find a good notebook/sketchbook to bring along with me and where to "brainstorm with myself" during my work as a software developer and my personal life.As I enjoy using application with good UI and great UX, I want to find a notebook where I can store differents months of free thoughts (it seems that asking for more than 40/60 pages is asking a lot) and...

Often pass days or week from the last time I have been able to work on the project, and I need...

Hi to all, I am a Ruby developer who primarly works on the web. I know also Javascript, and just enough PHP to be dangerous. But I feel that I need to learn a most 'complete' or better, lower level, programming language to improve my arsenal of weapons and to improve the way I think while programming.I am fascinated about a lot of languages, just to be clear, I am talking about the ivy league,...

I am a developer and I have a 40 hr/week job. It is a very good job and I put a lot of effort in it. But I have also my own ideas that I would love to develop, but I am struggling to organize time and material to develop something for me.I read a lot and have a lot of ideas, about little porjects to test new technologies or new patterns, but never find the time.I would love to learn the...

I have always developed in the web contest, and rarely I have needed to deal with files/bytes... Now I am in this position, and I need to learn Go. Go seems really good to me, and has good resources, but when it comes to int64, float32, arrays of bytes.... I find my self overwhelmed. Is there any resource that explain in a clear way this concepts?? If it s a Golang related resource even better.
