Re:SciPy - the embarrassing way to code on Tuesday November 10, 2009 @09:39PM (#934464)
After spending most of the last night trying to model and fit a bunch of data with scipy, my main bottleneck was my understanding; working out what I needed to do. Once that was done, everything could be implemented in a single call. I don't think that's a particularly bad bottleneck at all.

There was some good discussion about this last time this was posted, and also current discussion over on reddit.

Nice stuff. As mentioned at the bottom it is based off a production version by Biergert & Funk (http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/20/biergert-and-funk-qlocktw...) But it is worth noting that an instructable on how to make a lower cost version can also be found here :http://www.instructables.com/id/A-Word-Clock/

Google did actually file a patent based around floating data centers. There is an article on it here : http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=9937
While the submitted link is a great example of what you've made, a little context never hurts.

Seeing as you've already written a write up on your blog, why not point to that instead?.

I'd be much more comfortable with a yearly rate - $20 a year is a much easier price point for these types of services (look at flickr, I think it nailed the subscription service model).

I don't want to worry about monthly bills.

Re:Arduino hardware hacking: Part 2 on Thursday May 07, 2009 @07:24PM (#598859)
As someone who just built a monochrome Arduinome, I wish you the best of luck.

Arduinos are great for rapid development, no doubt about it. There is also pySerial which is great to use in conjunction with it.

Re:Is A Nomadic Lifestyle Cheaper Than Living In One Place? on Thursday April 16, 2009 @10:16AM (#565177)
Likewise it isn't really honest to look at UK mortgage repayments versus rest-of-the-world renting costs.

Review our startup, Emotiv Control: focused on electronic vehicle stability control.

http://eemotiv.comIt's a startup focused around tuning the electronic stability control systems in production cars, allowing the driver to electronically compensate and correct for any inherent understeer or oversteer that the car has.I just wanted to run it by you guys and gather your thoughts on it. Any feedback?Cheers, Pete.
