Forget SaaS dying, throw away software is way more interesting
Earl | AI product engineer | London | On-site 4 days/week | Fixed term to Dec 2026
We’re hiring an AI-native engineer to work with Earl on a live project inside a Premier League football club. This is not an AI strategy role, and it’s not a chatbot demo job. You’ll work directly with people inside the club's commercial team, find valuable problems, and build production AI systems that are actually used.
We’re looking for someone who can move from vague problem → technical design → working product quickly.
You do not need football experience.
You do need strong product judgement, the ability to work directly with non-technical users, and evidence that you’ve actually shipped things.
We’re particularly interested in people who build with AI as their default way of working, rather than conventional engineers who have recently added an LLM API to their CV.
To apply, send me:
- A short intro
- 2-3 things you’ve built
What you personally did
- How you currently use AI to build software
- Location and availability
Strong candidates will do a paid practical working session.

AI tools like ChatGPT aren't like other software. They produce better results, for certain tasks, the better they know you. SaaS has never been like this. Asana doesn't care who I am. Word doesn't work better if it understands my personality. Chrome might know every site I've visited but it doesn't care about how my brain works.AI is different, in many use cases. Sure for trivial tasks it's not...

llms.txt solved a real problem. It gave AI tools a way to understand a website. It has some traction. But there's nothing equivalent for people. I think this might be a thing. Let's see what HN thinks.Every AI tool has some version of "custom instructions" but they're locked inside that tool. Switch from ChatGPT to Claude to Gemini and you're starting from scratch each time. Your voice, your...
more software, delivered faster, narrower focus.
this is a great line. very well put

I think it might be.I have ADHD. I've posted a little here on that. This one was cool, 142 comments: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46610156.Claude is powerful. This week feels like it has moved up a notch (running for 20mins on longer tasks and then getting stuff right). I don't know if/when/how it replaces devs, I know a lot on here have very strong thoughts on it. But for someone like...
oh and thanks for headline complement

I struggle with (self diagnosed ADHD) so I built a tool to easily capture my every thought, stick everything in a big pile that later I can search, sort, and do something with.Related and really interesting: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46610156
Yep green and this is common “founder ADHD” thing. I just worry about the day today coping.
Thank you. Will ask my doctor.
I agree. Even worse if you actually use an em dash in your day to day. I think we are in a transition period. People are uber sensitive to “oh this is AI slip, I must call it out”. It will course correct.
My idea is document everything. Every idea. All thoughts. Links. Ides I have. Then thoughtfully come back to them.

This came up on HN recently. I don’t have the link.
What is “late developing adhd” bar the obvious?
Literally just a text file? This is interesting to me. So many task app choices. But a bit of mark down nd notepad I think is a thing?
Why is Vyvanse? UK based.
Sleep comes up so much. Really interesting.
Tough. I think this is thoughtful.
Hmm b) is hard. When is the right idea ignored for next shiny brain thought?
Yeh rest is a good one. Something craved but hard to attain (sitting here on HN at midnight UK)

I have ADHD. I think. Pretty sure. I have thoughts, ideas, projects, concepts, links, things to read... fired at my brain all day every day. I can go deep on a topic for hours, but then be hit by a barrage of micro ideas. I really struggle to stay on track and focus. Oh and I run a business, manage people, try to make a profit. It's hard. And kids. And life?I think there is a founder/ADHD...
fixed, damn dns setting I missed! propagating now

Something I have been working on for a while. Pet project for my own use that a bunch of people asked me if they could play with.Chrome extension and desktop widget (Electron) to make it easy to capture notes, screenshots, links, audio, files almost anything. Pushed into your own knowledge base. We apply a little AI to fix typos, pull out topics, people, but of summarisation (needs a lot of...
