Re:Formal – Interruption free communication on Thursday August 18, 2016 @02:11PM (#12314972)
Anyone interested in interruption free messaging should check out WiredIn: https://wiredinapp.com

It's an existing product, so you can try it yourself. The biggest difference is that the interruptions are happening at the same time for the whole team, therefore increasing the total quiet-time of the company.

Do you think tools like this will make people star/favorite more or less stuff over time ?
Answering anonymously is a big feature, I'm still considering what's the appropriate size of the company for such an option. For example, Secret.app only allows you to see your friends secrets if you have 5 friends signed up...

Also yes, there's much to do with the data, we'll see what we can do there once people are actually using it!

thanks again for the feedback

Great suggestion, I will surely add a timeout after 48 hours! Note that you can still see the answers live on the dashboard even if half the people filled the form.
Looks nice so far, worked with IMAP for a while, not fun... So is it on top of IMAP or ... ?

Ask HN: Printing via an HTTP request to a thermal receipt printer

Hi there!I would like to send a POST request to a thermal printer, but everything sucks so far... Does anyone have any suggestions on which one is the best one?And also any libraries that would be helpful. Thanks so much guys!I'm considering these:* http://www.adafruit.com/products/600* http://littleprinter.com/* a standard Star/Epson printer (I don't want to use these because it's costly and...

Especially if you're young, there isn't much to lose. The world is indeed way bigger than one can imagine. I'd love to see a book listing testimonies of people in their who did some unusual life/career move, with the outcome. I suspect most of it will be overwhelmingly positive.
haha, thank you :) Strange indeed...
Because I believe the knowledge graph of Freebase is way heavier than what's needed, and unless you know exactly the type of what you're looking for, it would make a software like Akiva way more complicated to build, imho. (or I missed something)
I'm not sure what's the licensing of what's in Freebase but I'll look into it, thanks!
Everything you said is very much correct. On the "AI" title, I know there is a long debate about what constitutes an AI and what doesn't, and I'm sure you're also aware of it, so I won't go there :)

There is no data in TheBigDB yet indeed, I've just (re)launched it as I'm releasing Akiva: you can take them as both proof-of-concept of each other, if that makes sense.

Obviously, the dataset in TheBigDB will grow with time, and the skills of Akiva will also.

Thanks for your questions :)

I do! I'm not sure how to do it "the right way" for now, but if I release some mobile or desktop app based on it, I'll make sure to work on that, thanks for the question!
Survey submitted here, although I mostly use a vanilla remote git repo to manage my projects.
