I wonder if the jets will be able to assist breaking or control of the car in emergency situations.
I have one and I read mostly magazines, papers and books on them. Its great to be able to read in direct sunlight without having to strain my eyes. I have wired it up to the laptop sometimes to use it as an external monitor for coding (slow but doable).
I fail to understand how is this different to a google web crawler in practice other than ignoring the robots.txt?

I thought the NSA already was the internal spy agency?
Re:LittleJS is 2D and 3D now on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @01:19PM (#50091269)
It’s fun to build some small games with the kids for kicks. I’m definitely going to explore LittleJS for sure
Re:Nvidia's first GPU: GeForce 256 on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @01:17PM (#50091225)
Meh my Verite 1000 chip in my Creative 3d blaster was an actual mips processor. You could probably turn it into the worlds slowest ray tracer if you wanted to.
Re:Denmark set to allow return of 'physical force' in school on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @05:41AM (#50069076)
I don't accept your premise and I reject your attempt to appeal to empathy creating some made up anecdote about how you think the world works. You are saying the other children must must suffer for the benefit of one. You cannot convince me this is the moral position. I don't care about what "class" the child comes from it's irrelevant to the point I'm making. This is about the rest of the society not having to live in misery.

This affect the poor more than the rich and to not sort it out affects the learning and safety of the people with less resources.

Re:Denmark set to allow return of 'physical force' in school on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:09AM (#50067880)
I never had a problem with students having rights. I have a problem with those rights not coming with responsibilities and proper sanctions when those are violated. There should be zero tolerance of students using violence either against the teachers or other students. They should be moved to a reform school immediately.
They can't properly meet the current demand. A crash will primarily hit NVIDIA, AMD and other AI chip makers as they have oversold already and the cards are sitting in storage waiting for the needed data centers and the power needed to run them.

Its like a gold rush where half of the picks are sitting in storage because there are not enough miners to wield them.

Re:Decade-old RAM is making a comeback on Sunday October 11, 2026 @04:35AM (#50040919)
The crazy thing is knowing so many of the produced GPUs are just sitting in storage collecting dust because they don't have anywhere to plug them in and even where they have space do not have the power to run them. So basically the whole RAM situation is driven by things that are sitting dark in storage.
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 08, 2026 @02:54PM (#50010323)
I have been using Q4 and running it with https://github.com/gufo-org/gufo which seems to be working pretty well. But I have to get off bazzite as my distro. I love the fedora atomic in principle but it's a pain for normal installs.
You are right of course it's rockstar lol
People talking about GTA6 being playable after launch is possible but I doubt it will impact their sales much as somebody will first have to rip this from the console then it has to work (I suspect the hardware requirements will make it harder to run than we think, limiting the mass appeal). Finally the money for blizzard is in the GTA Online its way more important for them long term than the single player campaign. And I do not see how AnyPS5 can help anyone there.

In general though bad news for all the small games out there more than the blockbusters.

Re:AI is now capable of developing its own inference hardware on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @02:52AM (#49989244)
Its coming, AMD snapped up the company behind https://chatjimmy.ai/ Taalas that did exactly that with an older model. As others have been saying the point is to know when to do it. At what point is there a model that cannot drastically improve that you can then do this lets say for the mid and low tier models leaving frontier to run on gpus.

Awesome 3.8 next runs great on my Framework Desktop so I'm loving more local models.
Re:Watson Jr. memo about CDC 6600 on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @02:06AM (#49974802)
At least for a couple of years it was a massive success. If they had not done the PC somebody else would have become the PC I think so they were damned if they did and damned if they did not.
Re:Watson Jr. memo about CDC 6600 on Monday October 05, 2026 @02:45AM (#49961424)
Classic example of a small very motivated team with free reigns vs committee development at IBM. The irony is that less than 20 years later IBM would do the same thing and it lead to the IBM PC.
Re:One month coding with GLM 5.3 Flash on Saturday October 03, 2026 @04:10AM (#49942303)
Not only an overbuild but one that’s not real as there is a huge difference between talking about building and actually doing the building. Announcements are not the same as execution.
Re:56k.rip – the 1996 dial-up internet experience on Thursday October 01, 2026 @05:46AM (#49919672)
My friends first modem was 1200 baud, mine 2400 and then I got the 9600 baud one. 56 kpbs was a pipe dream. Another friend had it but it was barely ever able to connect at full speed due to the quality of the line.
Re:Why the Bronze Age Collapsed on Thursday October 01, 2026 @03:45AM (#49918910)
The Sea Peoples seemed more like slow erosion on top of all the other issues. Egypt was able to resist the Sea Peoples but other empires were to weak to handle the constant issues. It feels a bit like the fall of the Western Roman Empire which was erosion of stability, what it meant to be roman and military might until it collapsed.
Re:The AI Race Just Got Awkward on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @01:05PM (#49911603)
any model you run on a phone is not going to do wonders for you battery life
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @07:31AM (#49907394)
They just informed me they are gimping my 200 plan to 10x instead of 20x the normal plan size and threw me some extra tokens to compensate. So the gimping is starting the new 200 plan will be 500.
Re:Why Is Sam Altman a Free Man? on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @06:33AM (#49906924)
So why is OpenAI not charged with Cybercrimes. You would be if you did the same.
Dude if you bought this morning on the news you would have made well over 10% back today. This smells more of a massive algorithmic sell off

if "CEO Resignes" SELL SELL SELL

MongoDB is a great db for agentic workloads to be honest. Thats probably why they are still seeing growth. They also have some very good embedding models. They should really make those available over their own API though.

They probably should look into JEV style models as well might make sense for automatic classification of data.

I wish they would call their bluff. Just declare them a national security concern and send in the feds. Lets see how fast they back peddle on this. Any if their models are hacking everything like they claim they should be charged for it like any normie would be if they did the same.
Re:Prompting Claude Opus 5.5 on Monday September 28, 2026 @05:38AM (#49875572)
This constant change of behavior, the dumming down of models over time as they do different levels of quantization to save processing cycle etc. To be honest I long for being able to get locked in versions of models with known parameters so I'm looking forward to getting more and more open source models and long term being able to afford running our own so we have a known stable llm model checkpoint and not what feels like random.
Its part Japanese and Koreas model and part British Empire Mercantilism.
If you stagnate economically then you are shrinking. Inflation eats up the purchasing power and you get poorer. In a lot of European countries the purchasing power of the population has been decimated over the last 20 years. Only a few countries in the east are the exception.
Lol you don't know anything about me or what I have seen of the world.
