Hi everyone, I'm excited to share my new tool, Auctionista, with the Hacker News community.
Every so often, somebody will post an item for sale on eBay with a buy it now price which is far less than the item is worth. These items normally get snapped up straight away, but if you're quick, then you can get some great bargains. Auctionista lets you set up saved searches which notify you immediately by email.
I built this tool originally for myself - I buy a lot of old film cameras on eBay and I've managed to get some great deals, such as a Nikon F80 for £20 and a Canon Sure Shot for £4.75.
I'm now releasing Auctionista commercially, in the hopes that it can help other eBay users get some great deals, too.

Yep sure - you can upgrade at the pre-order rate.
E.g. if you pre order the basic package at $49 but later upgrade to the complete plan, the additional cost would just be $26
Hi, I just launched Launchy.xyz. Its an automated service that auto submits your startup to up to 80 startup directories, giving your startup exposure, early traction and saving you a LOT of time vs manual submission.
After submission, you can monitor your listings from one central dashboard, making it easy to keep an eye on everything.
Thanks for looking,
Chris

Hi, I am currently looking for beta users for a new tool that converts blog posts and news articles into podcasts using TTS, meaning that people who don't have time to read an article can listen to it as a podcast instead.

Hi, I just launched Hosty.Page. The idea is that it reduces the process of deploying a web app to a single API call, making it easy to get a site live. You can easily build it into CI/CD pipelines and generate previews for your sites quickly. There is a pro plan that adds support for custom domain names and removes the site expiry. Sites are deployed to an AWS CloudFront instance with SSL

My initial target market was small bike/ski hire shops but I’ve had a lot of enquiries from individuals wanting to hire out their gym kit, so this is something I’m also exploring
I need to change the tag line to make it clearer internationally, and the product name because, as someone has pointed out, it’s actually already taken
Yeah I know, I plan to rebrand, I had no idea that existed
Backend is django with graphene, frontend is vuejs with vuetify and Apollo. DB is Postgres. DB and backend is hosted in AWS, frontend is netlify
There’s a ticket in the backlog for that. For now the price is assumed to be inclusive
Thanks for the feedback. Pricing it still WIP at the moment, haven’t quite decided the best way to handle it in the long run
Thanks - will take a look
Thanks, it’s all built in Vuetify which makes it stupidly easy
It probably needs updating, think this is a UK vs US English thing
Instore primarily for now, there’s a delivery feature in the backlog

Fixed now, thanks for the heads up.
This is true, but it’s a problem that goes away when you enable payments on your account - once you’ve done that, customers must pay to place an order
This is actually covered by stripe connect - users wanting to accept card payments through Rentify need to go through stripe’s is verification process, which involves uploading copies of your ID. Stripe also provides chargeback protection, which I have enabled, which covers any costs due to fraud
So, I’ve had a quick look through the stripe docs and am now planning to:
- add stripe radar to identify payments made on stolen cards
- add the ability to request a security deposit, which puts a hold on the customers card
Would that cover most issues?
Have started reading the stripe radar docs...
This is fair, will update
Another user has raised this point, and it seems totally valid. I think I need to add the ability to put a holding deposit on a customers card, and probably also update the terms of service...
