Re:iTerm2 3.5.0 on Tuesday May 21, 2024 @12:20PM (#40430473)
My question is, why doesn't iTerm2 support ollama? It would allow me to run locally, without an internet connection, and keep my data on my computer.
just wondering if this AI is aware of that Google will sunset the AI within the next two years, and if it will then write its own farewell article
Re:Moving the Evernote center of operations to Europe on Sunday July 09, 2023 @06:15AM (#36653205)
But they know that this isn't so easy in Europe:

"[...] Evernote will need to allow a human review of your notes, and that’s not the only reason an employee would look at your notes."

Re:Google Search's Death by a Thousand Cuts on Sunday July 02, 2023 @04:06PM (#36565131)
Since Google collects a lot of personal data from each user, search results for the same query are different and personalized. This seems like a perfect solution - beside the tracking. For example, if someone searches for ‘python’, Google can use the context to show results about either a snake or a programming language. But what happens if someone wants to learn to program in Python as first programming language and has previously searched for a frog and visited the zoo last week? In my opinion, the information that Google collects is useless and doesn’t enhance the search results.

Re:ChatGPT browsing is blocked by StackOverflow on Sunday June 18, 2023 @12:48PM (#36381900)
I get a "Human verification" on StackOverflowing when I search and I'm not logged in. Should explain why ChatGPT is blocked.

On the other side the same prompt seems to work on Bing with ChatGPT. But Bing just do a "Searching for: reverse a string in JavaScript StackOverflow".

I've also tried the prompt "search on StackOverflow how I can reverse a string in JavaScript" which shows a list of StackOverflow search results. But they can use their own Bing results and doesn't have to call StackOverflow.

this is a summary of the article by Bing ChatGPT:

The article explores how small businesses use artificial intelligence tools and SEO strategies to optimize their online stores for Google Search, which is the main source of traffic and customers for many of them. The article argues that this process has created a lot of low-quality and redundant content on the web, which makes it harder for both customers and businesses to find what they are looking for. The article also examines how Google is trying to improve its search experience by using its own AI systems to generate summaries and answers for complex queries, but faces challenges such as speed, accuracy, and user satisfaction. The article cites examples of online stores such as Get Bullish, which sells quirky gifts and uses AI tools to create blog posts with SEO keywords, and Shopify, which provides e-commerce platforms and services for small businesses and helps them with SEO optimization. The article also quotes experts and researchers who study the impact of SEO and AI on the web and on human communication. The article concludes by suggesting that Google should take more responsibility for the quality of the content it surfaces and rewards, and that small businesses should focus more on creating original and engaging content for their customers rather than for Google’s algorithms.

Don't build your business on Google - at the end of the day it's just another reminder.
Re:Reddit Is OpenAI’s Moat? on Wednesday June 14, 2023 @11:28AM (#36327431)
- suddenly after the ChatGPT success, they realized that they have valuable data

- next step is to stop third-party apps that generated these data

- then they let the moderators show their power

I’m not sure if people care about a CEO being exposed as a liar nowadays, but maybe some former Yahoo managers have another idea on how to destroy more value.

ppl have to see every CEO posts
if an investor comes up with the same questions, spez should be gone as CEO: - Have they just now realized that AI might pay millions of dollars after reddit was founded 18 years ago? - Do they know that Reddit data has value because it is structured and rated and third-party tools help to do this? - They know that even their annoying ads don’t make them profitable, but do they know that these ads reduce the chance that the user might produce new valuable data for all these AI millions of dollars?
