SEEKING WORK - New York City or Remote

I am a veteran engineer, formerly worked at Google. Mostly recently I've been doing mostly iOS work.

Technologies: iOS, Objective-C, C++, Python, Java, etc.

Resume: http://fightingquaker.com/charles-chen-resume-en5.html

Contact: charlesmchen [@] gmail.com

Your data is missing a "physical security" dimension. I don't think Medellin would be in your top 20 if this was taken into account. It wouldn't have to be a kidnapping or mugging - just having your laptop robbed would be disastrous for a nomad.

FiftyThree, New York, Full time, H1B transfers okay, no remote.

Since we launched Paper for iOS in March 2012, it has been downloaded more than 8 million times and Apple named it the 2012 App of the Year on iPad. Paper is just the beginning, and we’re hard at work on what’s next.

We’re looking for app developers (but we’d also love to talk to web devs, backend devs and designers).

• Love creating beautiful user experiences? We’re a design-driven company, and you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with world-class designers. In the last year, Paper won numerous design awards including the Apple Design Award, IxDA, AIGA, and Crunchie. • Enjoy a technical challenge? Interesting problems abound. • We’re a startup but we’re on sound financial ground. We offer competitive salary, benefits, and equity. • This role will be based in our NYC office. No remote, but we’ll help with relocation. If H1B, transfers only.

Re:The Magical Tech Behind Paper For iPad's Color-Mixing on Thursday November 08, 2012 @04:53PM (#4760078)
We're lucky enough to have founders that are designers and engineers, and we have a design-driven process and a commitment to high quality standards. It's a pleasure to know you'll get the chance to get things right.
Re:The Magical Tech Behind Paper For iPad's Color-Mixing on Thursday November 08, 2012 @04:50PM (#4760057)
We looked at a number of color blending algorithms that operate in the CMYK colorspace. None of them work well. Ultimately, colorspaces are designed to solve the problem of representing colors in isolation, not color blending.
Re:The Magical Tech Behind Paper For iPad's Color-Mixing on Thursday November 08, 2012 @04:43PM (#4760014)
These prototypes were developed by designer Andrew Allen https://twitter.com/asallen working with prototyping engineer Amit Pitaru https://twitter.com/pitaru

If you'd like to discuss our approach to color blending, I can be reached at https://twitter.com/cmchen

Re:An open source library for laying out iOS user interfaces. on Monday February 27, 2012 @08:16AM (#3638826)
Thanks for the comment.

Yes, the WeViews are just UIView and play nicely with IB.

Also, the demo _does_ generate code for the layouts you build in it. Unlike IB, its just pseudo code; it lacks specifics and just contains the layout logic. It also doesn't (yet) let you re-open and edit past layouts. But it certainly lets you build UIs visually/interactively.
