Re:What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks on Thursday September 10, 2026 @03:47AM (#49639910)
Accurate summary. Had been working on issuing side for almost 5 years. Some of the issuing providers offer really good APIs, some of them are really bad. But overall the card networks are easier to implement than parsing banking data directly
That was really fun to watch and I took the chance to also watch the 40 year recap from the German side (in German tho https://media.ccc.de/v/ho26-124-vom-hacker-zum-spion-die-ges...).

Well from my view as European working in finance. Handling money for customers to pay (buy apps) likely requires an e money license (not sure about other states). And with this there is lot of things coming, like AML and what not. So disabling the account might be due to regulations required for the e money license.

Of course Support should be able to resolve this if proves are given

Re:Way past its prime: how did Amazon get so rubbish? on Sunday October 05, 2025 @03:37AM (#45479624)
A huge part for me is how they handle employees and how that makes employees steal things.

My wife ordered an iPhone and we received a salt mill and a flashlight. Called them, they said sorry send it back. But then they would not return the money cause we did not return the phone. At that point Amazon accused us for betrayal and forced us to take a lawyer to get parts of the money back.

That was our last day of using Amazon or prime video.

The password is "I'm a teapot" right?
My washing machine displays a remaining time when you start it but is constantly wrong. So you go to the basement to find out it needs 15 more minutes. You go down 20min later and still 5min left. It is very pleasant to know when it is ready without going to the basement

Re:Don’t mock what you don’t own on Wednesday June 22, 2022 @03:08PM (#31840454)
Please mock everything. It's just annoying when your CI starts failing because a third party service is down multiple times a month

Re:Bespoke Synth 1.0 – open-source software modular synthesizer on Wednesday September 15, 2021 @02:45AM (#28536005)
even with ubuntu its not working cause it cannot resolve python 3.8 as latest ubuntu only ships 3.9 and 3.10
Re:Stop mocking your system on Monday July 05, 2021 @02:30AM (#27735170)
I oppose to that. We have unit tests calling API endpoints of third party sandbox. Once a week all of our CI fails cause third party sandbox is down
Not true. I can sit in a pub a whole day with friends talking less then 500 words
