Re:Ask HN: What will you be doing for the next 10 years? on Sunday March 15, 2026 @07:03PM (#47392954)
Focusing on "Solo-Engineering" complex systems that were previously impossible for a single dev.

For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a web dev and SEO analyst. My next 10 years will be defined by tackling the "Complexity Ceiling" that used to stop solo founders in their tracks.

Here is what AI has changed for my decade-long roadmap:

From "Information" to "Efficiency Engines": Previously, building a high-quality strategy engine for a complex game (like genetics/breeding simulators or deck-building logic) required a team or months of manual balancing. Now, I can use LLMs to stress-test game theory logic and edge cases in days. My goal is to build a fleet of "Decision Engines" rather than just content wikis.

Hyper-Localizing the Web: Scaling a niche tool into 5-10 languages used to be a nightmare of maintenance and translation costs. AI now handles the "native gamer" nuance in localization perfectly. I’m spending my next decade building programmatic platforms that are globally accessible from day one.

The "Tool-Led" pSEO Pivot: The era of basic content clusters is dying. I’m moving toward "Programmatic SEO + Interactive Tools." If a user needs a specific calculator or a specialized PFP resizer, I can now scaffold, debug, and deploy that specific utility in a fraction of the time, allowing me to manage a portfolio of 20+ high-traffic niche sites solo.

The "Impossible" part: Ten years ago, I thought I’d always be a cog in a larger dev team to build anything "heavy." Today, my 10-year outlook is being a "One-Man Studio" managing complex, data-heavy systems that serve millions of users.

The next decade isn't about AI writing my code; it's about AI allowing me to think at a 10x larger architectural scale.

I’ve been a web dev for 10+ years, and my professional pivot in 2026 has been moving away from "content-first" sites to "tool-led" content products. My current stack is Astro/Next.js + Tailwind + TypeScript, with heavy Python usage for data enrichment.

What’s working:

Boilerplate & Layout Shifting: AI (specifically Claude 4.x/5) is excellent for generating Astro components and complex Tailwind layouts. What used to take 2 hours of tweaking CSS now takes 15 minutes of prompt-driven iteration.

Programmatic SEO (pSEO) Analysis: I use Python scripts to feed raw data into LLMs to generate high-volume, structured analysis (300+ words per page). For zero-weight niche sites, this has been a massive leverage point for driving organic traffic.

Logic "Vibe Checks": When building strategy engines (like simulators for complex games), I use AI to stress-test my decision-making logic. It’s not about writing the core engine—which it still struggles with for deep strategy—but about finding edge cases in my "Win Condition" algorithms.

The Challenges:

The "Fragment" Syntax Trap: In Astro specifically, I’ve hit issues where AI misidentifies <> shorthand or hallucinates attribute assignments on fragments. You still need to know the spec inside out to catch these.

Context Rot: As a project grows, the "context window" isn't the problem; it's the "logic drift." If you let the AI handle too many small refactors without manual oversight, the codebase becomes a graveyard of "almost-working" abstractions.

The Solution: I treat AI as a junior dev who is incredibly fast but lacks a "mental model" of the project's soul. I handle the architecture and the "strategy logic," while the AI handles the implementation of UI components and repetitive data transformations.

Stack: Astro, TypeScript, Python scripts for data. Experience: 10 years, independent/solo.

For me, the biggest pain point is the lack of a 'Single Source of Truth' for the tech stack logic. When joining a team that uses meta-frameworks like Astro, if the hydration strategy or the data-scraping scripts (Python) aren't well-documented, I spend more time reverse-engineering the build process than actually shipping features. A clean README and a clear schema for JSON data go a long way.
The irony is that while Wikipedia faces criticism for bias, it remains one of the few massive-scale sites with a clean internal link structure that doesn't feel manipulated by modern SEO 'clustering' tactics. For developers, their API is still a masterclass in how to serve structured data to the public.
I've been using Opus 4.5 for programmatic SEO and localizing game descriptions. If 4.6 truly improves context compaction, it could significantly lower the API costs for large-scale content generation. Has anyone tested its logic consistency on JSON output compared to 4.5?

Show HN: CozyProfit – A crop profit calculator for cozy farming sims

https://cozyprofit.com/

I built CozyProfit because I love farming sims but got tired of managing messy spreadsheets just to figure out what to plant. Most calculators didn't handle regrowth cycles or processing (like turning crops into wine/juice) very intuitively. I wanted to create a tool that visualizes the "profit per day" clearly for games like Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria. It's a work in progress, and I’d...

Show HN: I reverse-engineered Mewgenics (game) to build a luck/RNG calculator

https://mewgenius.com/

Hi HN,I’ve been playing the beta of Mewgenics (the new game by Edmund McMillen, creator of The Binding of Isaac) and got frustrated by the opaque RNG mechanics. The game has a "Luck" stat, but it wasn't clear how it affected success rates. So, I decided to dig into the game files (classes+Misc.txt, events.csv) to reverse-engineer the hidden formulas.I built MewGenius to visualize this data. It's...

Show HN: Rivals Victory –Tactical database and economy tracker for Marvel Rivals

https://rivalsvictory.com/

Hi HN,I built Rivals Victory, a tactical toolkit for the new hero shooter Marvel Rivals. While playing, I realized it was hard to track win conditions and team tempo just by looking at the in-game scoreboard. I wanted a way to calculate "Ultimate Economy" (who has ult advantage) and filter heroes by specific mechanics (hitscan, stun, shield) for counter-picking.The project is built with: - Astro...

Show HN: I built a pSEO game wiki with Astro and fixed Schema validation errors

https://gamestrategyhub.com/

I built a static game database (150+ pages) using Astro and a JSON dataset. I faced two main technical challenges:1. Avoiding "Thin Content": Instead of generic templates, I wrote logic functions to generate unique strategy advice (text) based on the item's data attributes (e.g., if rarity == common && type == mult, generate specific text about scaling issues).2. Schema/Rich Results:...

9types.org is a wonderful professional platform for the Enneagram. What unique advantages do you think the Enneagram test has over other psychological assessment tools in helping personal self-awareness and improving interpersonal relationships? Feel free to share your thoughts or questions.
I made a website that collects strategies, guides, and gameplay resources for the mobile game X-Clash. It includes hero information, puzzle solutions, combat tips, and other resources that players usually have to search across multiple platforms.

I’m sharing it here to get feedback on the site's structure, usability, content organization, and what additional tools or features might be helpful for players.

Any suggestions from the HN community are welcome.
