Re:Pharma firms stash profits in Europe's tax havens on Monday July 01, 2024 @04:21PM (#40850230)
Your solution to corporations using tax havens is to eliminate all corporate taxes?

How does that help?

They only pay 6% now, you are saying, so let's have them pay 0%?

I find it difficult to watch any sports these days because you are just constantly bombarded with sports betting ads and tie-ins. I have absolutely no interest in throwing my money away on sports bets and yet even I find myself wondering if I should try it out or maybe I could just open a trial account. It's dangerous and disappointing that this is the direction that all the major sports leagues are heading.
Microsoft owns OpenAI so I doubt that they will be asked to rename this.
Re:Where is ChatGPT taking us? And do we want to follow? on Sunday February 12, 2023 @07:35PM (#34768748)
Ah, but isn’t it? All storytelling is a simulation of reality. This is something all great artists have explored. Where does art end and reality begin? It is not a solid line.

Ask HN: Does reading techincal books help your software engineering career?

It is the beginning of the year and so I am putting together my annual list of technical books that I would like to read this year. Why would the opposite be better? Aren't most functions impure? The original proposal made sense to me, but I am curious as to why you believe impure is better. Can you elaborate?

No.
Isn’t it like $10 per year for a premium account?
Did Elon lead his other companies this way and we just didn’t know? Or has he suddenly lost his ability to make good decisions?
Re:Meta stock sinks more than 23% on Thursday October 27, 2022 @10:10AM (#33357681)

Re:Magic Leap 2: The most immersive AR platform for enterprise on Friday September 30, 2022 @07:44PM (#33042170)
"Could not load video." Yikes! Good luck, Magic Leap. This does not bode well.
Re:Half of Japan's LDP lawmakers had ties with Unification Church on Thursday September 08, 2022 @11:20AM (#32766881)
I agree with you. But all churches start as cults. Romans viewed Christians the same way most Americans view Scientologists. Actually, Romans killed Christians, so probably they viewed them a tad bit worse.

Yes, but does the domain even have anything on it?
Re:Engineering Festivus on Thursday August 18, 2022 @12:30PM (#32511794)
We've all been there. But it still hurts.

There is no audio because the original cast of Seinfeld has not come back to record new dialogue about tech. We can only dream.
Re:Engineering Festivus on Thursday August 18, 2022 @10:14AM (#32509889)
This feels like a distillation of my entire life up till now.
