I understand it's a very lean MVP to start but I can definitely see the potential. I posted about this on my Threads and it blew up locally (Philippines). You should look into how much people loved it here back in its heyday and what kind of features the users really liked. In fact many people who learned about Friendster being available now have already started asking if those old favorites of theirs were still/will be available too. Hope you can look into it!

What does it matter?

Ironic that you literally threw an ad right in the parent's face through this simple comment.
It's called Self-handicapping, and yes it's a thing.
Re:Why I won't get a Google+ Custom URL on Friday November 08, 2013 @07:09PM (#6699972)
Wow, I didn't know that. I got the same e-mail and went all the way through with this exact same processor for one of my "pages". When I think about it, I don't really care as much about that G+ page as the other related social networking profiles, but this would still affect me if it were enforced at some point in the future. Well, I made the change, unlike you. Score one for actually reading the TOS.
Thank you for sharing! This technology is definitely interesting. I will be following news about it closely and would appreciate it if you could post more updates in the future.
I do the exercises one at a time, basically. Whichever chapter I'm on, I do the exercises on that. Although I back-read to understand the current chapter better, I don't actually repeat the exercises. I'll keep that in mind from now on. Thanks for the advice and that link!
You know, the title of the class alone is enough to convince me that it's going to be awesome! I have no idea what Udacity is, though. I'm just going to do a search for it. And I just read that post about the lawyer who became a Ruby hacker so I was already thinking, "Right, I should probably learn how to actually build something." So this is perfect! I hope I become part of that upcoming class in April. Thanks!

Ask HN: How to finish Learn Python The Hard Way and where to go from there?

I've been wanting to learn how to properly program since last year and based on the advice of a lot of great people here at HN and elsewhere, I got myself a copy of Learn Python The Hard Way. I think the advice at the beginning of the book that said take 2 hours to read/learn/perform exercises each day is solid. So I do that and really have no problems at all except that by the time I arrive at...

Well, that is Apple's end game for the iPad after all. The same goes for Amazon and its Kindle family of devices. Whether we like it or not, the iPad and other similar devices are media consumption devices by design. You really should have known that before you bought it.

Anyway, you do have the choice of either returning it or simply keeping it and making the most out of it. And that is by focusing on its strengths and basically everything that it does right.

Re:Why Google should buy Twitter on Thursday September 30, 2010 @11:58AM (#1743678)
When I read that headline I was instantly reminded of YouTube. Google should buy Twitter because it's got a massive user base that they will find impossible to monetize as well? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
Re:It's time to rethink libraries. on Tuesday September 21, 2010 @12:55AM (#1711526)
The obvious move would be to replace the bookshelves and books (among other texts and publications) with a bunch of computers and free/paid Internet access. But the biggest problem, I think, would be making sure that people are actually using those new resources for what they are meant to be used for and not for something else like updating their Facebook status or watching Charlie Bit My Finger on YouTube.
