Ask HN: I built an all-in-one agentic editor–I might need your guidance / collab

My name is Carl and for about 18 months I have been working on an web app. It's an app that aims to be a sort of agentic / automated editor. For now, it handles 40 images tools, but soon there will be more types such as text and video tools. The agentic capabilities are limited for now, but at this point the app can chain actions, choose and update tools. The aim is to simplify the users tasks...

Re:Ask HN: Alternatives to Vector DB? on Saturday March 22, 2025 @07:53AM (#43445144)
I use usearch for the engine https://github.com/unum-cloud/usearch/. It's fast. The vectors are stored in DB and added to usearch at startup for retreival. There is also FAISS.

The way I think is the most crucial thing in my case. I tend to focus more on the positive (I trained myself) and being healthy (food, sport, sleep, walks...). With good energy it's way easier.

From what you wrote, I'm not sure, but it seems that the "talking to people" and the "problem definition" steps could be improved to better identify the SPECIFIC problem you are solving, the causes behind the problem, the users motivation to solve it... By asking questions like: Is it a problem people are trying to solve? How many? At which frequency?

Because solving an important and specific problem will make it easier to target potential users and for them to be naturally interested.

Wish you the best!

How companies like Airbnb can set a new standard for corporate social responsibility, reshaping how companies engage with communities for a more sustainable and equitable future.

Ask HN: What are you using to parse PDFs for RAG?

Hi, I'm looking for a simple way to convert PDFs into markdown with integrated images and tables. Tried Llamaindex, but no integrated images. Tried Langchain, but some PDFs will have the footer being parsed before the top. Tried to use Adobe PDF API, but have to pay $25K upfront!
