Ask HN: Who is hiring remote junior Rails devs?
I have been looking on the usual job sites but no luck. Who is hiring for a Junior Rails dev?
To me this is far more hurtful and depressing than the generic "We do not feel like you are the best fit at this time".
I am now doing a Rails internship for free for a few weeks and then I am bumped to minimum wage while keeping my current Web dev job.
I have been trying to get a junior position but no luck yet.
Hackathons would be fun if it was all about everyone building what ever and having a good time instead a lot of them seem building a business focused.

I am new to Rails and I have been looking around for companies that work with it but it seems like nobody is hiring for Rails devs. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place or I'm in the wrong place.Anybody know if there are any companies hiring Rails devs especially ones that are new to the framework?
I am already a developer but I am not quite there yet in terms of skill level. I'm good enough to churn out WordPress sites and do basic PHP work which is what I have been doing through out my career. But I want a more serious development role and that's the purpose of a lot of these schools they take someone that is probably 60% of the way and gives them the extra 30% to make them more employable.
Ran into this and it looks awesome but I am not in college any more.. http://www.codecademy.com/fellowship/2013Is there any thing similar for folks no longer in school?
So I have been looking for a spot for the folks taking the Startup Engineering class through Coursera to meet and discuss the class, do homework, etc. If anybody has a meeting room or something they can lend us after 6pm, at least once a week, and big enough for 20+ people that would be awesome!
I moved into one of those apodment places once I got here during the summer. It's a dorm style place that comes w/ furniture, internet, electricity, heat, and water for like $700.
I then emailed a bunch of companies in the area and landed a junior dev job. The pay is low but I am learning a lot.
I've taken a break on freelancing for 3months to finish some personal projects I'm hoping that will get me something. /fingerscrossed
Where is everybody staying especially those who do not have a car and do not plan to rent?I am coming into the San Jose airport and I have no clue where to book a place.
