Not much different from Workflowy. Slowly improving day by day. You can self-host it on the Cloudflare architecture! (I need to create better docs for that)

Show HN: I built an open source alternative to Workflowy

https://dotflowy.com

Get everything out of your head, shape it when you're ready, and find it when it matters. Dotflowy is a calm, fast outliner that keeps up with the way you think. Created in the likeness of Workflowy but with the plugin extensibility of Obsidian and the beauty of Linear. MCP compatible.invite code: "jesus-saves"

For anyone wanting Workflowy but open source and self-hostable, I’ve created Dotflowy

Invite: jesus-saves

Been creating an open source Workflowy alternative called Dotflowy and it’s available for testing now

https://app.dotflowy.com

Invite code: jesus-saves

Think Workflowy outliner meets plugin extensibility of Obsidian, meets the beauty of Linear, meets the markdown feel of Bear notes

"jesus-saves" is the code

And, look at the CONTRIBUTING.md and it should tell you how, but you'll need to run the local migration and then run `bun run cf:dev`

Re:Show HN: Workflowy but Open Source on Tuesday July 07, 2026 @05:49PM (#48824377)
This has been a fun project over the past 3 weeks. It's helped me begin to think through ways where I wished Workflowy would've explored, but since Workflowy isn't open source or plugin-based, I took things into my own hands.

Built on TanStack Start, TanStack DB, TanStack Virtualizer, Effect v4, Xstate, and the Cloudflare ecosystem.

You can self-host it for free, too

You could use HTMX.org ;)
You could try out the https://wisephone.com to see if that helps. It doesn't allow social media, but it does allow apps that are tools to get a job done. I think if you let your kids experience boredom, they'd be sad and potentially spiteful, but it's what they need. Kids need to experience boredom. That's when the best experiences and ideas happen.
