It’s sort of an odd turn about. My grandfather owned and operated several drive in theaters in Texas. The businesses were handed down to him by his mother, who ran the theaters herself with her husband. Technology like home tv and the vcr changed peoples theater habits. They socially distanced at home and we saw a near extinction of the drive in theater. It’s sort of ironic that now were moving in the opposite direction. So much time with Netflix and various streaming services that we’re seeking out the safety of a drive in theater today.

What a resurgence. We closed our last theater in the 2000’s but I’ve got fond memories of working the box office with my grandfather weekend evenings.

I'll second this one. I've had a few chats with Melissa, she's great.
Re:Why we left AngularJS on Tuesday February 18, 2014 @09:27PM (#7261466)
This a thousand times. I read the article and thought it a little weak on perspective. I've used Mustache+Backbone+Require.js stack like the one you're alluding to and it worked quite well together.
Re:Polychart.js: An Interactive Charting Library on Wednesday April 10, 2013 @05:54PM (#5528475)
Agree, I don't think per developer makes sense for this charting library but might make sense for other software. Say a text editor like Textmate or Sublime Text 2. Really, we might as well call it per user licensing.
Start with little or no weight. I started my squat with the bar and 2x25 pound weights. I've reached 4x45 pound weights + the bar after about a year. I took it slow and steady because I did not want to injure myself. I actually had someone compliment my squat form the other day! Thats a great feeling knowing where you started. Like anything, you just need to devote effort to getting better.
Re:HN accounts for 12% of Social Bookmark referral traffic on Wednesday July 28, 2010 @11:16PM (#1556507)
This wasn't at all surprising to me. HN has a great community of tech enthusiasts who have a insatiable appetite for tech content. I'm sure the people who ask for critiques on their web apps get a nice traffic boost.
Sounds alot like what I like about App Engine. Hit the upload button and you've got a new version uploaded and live within minutes.
Re:Apple killed lala.com on Friday April 30, 2010 @01:35PM (#1308809)
I hope Apple relaunches this within iTunes. I loved lala.com and am sad to see it go. I found myself purchasing streamed albums after a certain point.
Re:Cheap or free web-based tools for your web startup on Tuesday March 30, 2010 @11:33PM (#1230853)
Woopra is a great realtime analytics service. I'm building our iPhone client...
This looks great. I'm likely to look at it a little more in the future. I've been using Second Life's asyncrounous coroutine library called eventlet. I've implemented most of my code with a good lightweight framework that fits; restish. On top of that, I use spawning to manage my server processes. I myself have seen these kinds of numbers with my own app tests.
I don't think it has to be random. I meet most potential partners through organizations. Try a organization like the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Dallas, where I'm from, has one of the oldest chapters in the nation. You could also try Startup Happy Hours and design groups like Refresh. You've got to get out and network.
Re:Ask HN: What to do when your company misses payroll? on Tuesday July 28, 2009 @05:01PM (#728826)
I agree. I negotiated my salary the first three years I was working full time. I did it politely and with respect. Truth is, you've got to look out for yourself.
