There are over 7m articles in English Wikipedia.

Re:Lego collaboration with Daft Punk on Sunday October 25, 2026 @10:43AM (#50232089)
I have listened to Alive 2007 more than any other live album. I am unbelievably jealous.

I want to see the Sphere in Vegas, but so far there hasn’t been an act that interest me. Frankly, all I need are two actors in robot costumes to press play on Alive 2007.

This is not an option for everyone, but as someone who gave up TV several years ago (not entirely, just mostly), not feeling the draw of these platforms or having to put up with their costs and changes is really nice.

TV is sort of like caffeine (another thing I gave up - though that one wasn't by choice, but required by my doctors) in that you cannot imagine yourself living without it and wouldn't want to. And the first few months of abstinence are genuinely very difficult.

But eventually it gets easier, and then it gets completely easy, and then you actually feel as good or better than before. And once you finally become accustomed to it, you can't imagine going back to the old way.

Kindness, honesty, patience, and critical thinking. Everything else will work out if he has those.
It reminded me of Dune: "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind."

I have nothing to add other than this is very relaxing and I love duck’s names.
Re:Bookofjoe's Favorite Thing: Best Pill Splitter on Thursday October 15, 2026 @08:47AM (#50102867)
He writes about it like it’s amazing that it still works. Meanwhile, I bought a no-name cheapo splitter for maybe $5 15 years ago that still works perfectly fine.

Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years!
Re:Computers Cannot Make Decisions on Saturday October 10, 2026 @08:29AM (#50032266)
These are issues that come up in legal disputes.

The question isn’t who or what made the decision, per se. It’s who is responsible for the outcome. The entity making the decision might be the actual cause but not the proximate cause (the cause most closely connected to legal liability) for the harm that occurred.

Re:LLMs may have immensely helped my RSI on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @09:13AM (#49992327)
I solved (managed) my computer-use-related RSI. Here’s how:

1. Multiple mouse input methods: I switch between a vertical mouse and a Wacom tablet throughout the day.

2. Good armrests: I have an ergo chair with some of the most adjustable armrests you can get. Armrest position is a big factor. You want your arms close to in plane with the desk.

3. Mouse and keyboard wrist rests.

4. Stretching: I do forearm stretches every hour or so.

5. Grip trainers: just like it’s not good for your eyes to only look at a screen inches away continuously, it’s not good for your muscles to only do fine, precision work for hours. Break it up with some strength training. I’m fond of the gyroball style or the basic spring tension trainers.

Same. We made our own accelerometers and brought them with us to Great Adventure. It was the end of the year perk for taking the physics elective.
Re:I Quit OpenAI Because Its Culture Is Broken on Sunday October 04, 2026 @10:28AM (#49954235)
I did marketing work for a major vegetation management company. These are the guys climbing trees, up in cherry pickers, and flying helicopters with dangling chainsaws to trim along power lines. It’s very dangerous work.

They do not hide the fact that it’s dangerous work. They focus on their safety procedures, training, and record. They want both potential clients and employment candidates to feel they are in good hands.

Very little standing still. Everyone is running around. It's a bit like capture the flag, except when you tag someone you compare index cards to see who is higher rank.
I also enjoyed it. We even used to play live Stratego at camp with index cards in our socks with our ranks.

What was the secret of your success?
