- This project is not "vibe-coded", by some of your definitions. PRs using AI are met with more scrutiny than handwritten PRs
- Accepting LLM generated submissions is not synonymous with developing zerobrew with little to no care. To me, it is non-conducive to reject a simple 50 line trivial bug fix, for example, because I have personal feelings about how LLMs should interact with an OSS.
- No, the README is not LLM generated.
- We are abundantly transparent about how we use Homebrew's bottle farm to take create a faster "client". I do not want this to be muddled: zerobrew would literally NOT exist without homebrew and if it ever makes a large enough dent in their bandwidth, I am happy to foot the bill for a mirror in the future.
- brew-rs existed as an experiment to do this directly in coordination with Homebrew that failed and was soon archived. I would have loved to continue work there, but zerobrew is the better route for a greenfield project offering a faster alternative IMO.
- We need maintainers / contributors.
Also, it seems that people think this is some hostile takeover or that we are intending to compete with Homebrew in some fashion. That is fucking silly. It is a fun project, that in my opinion is pretty nice to use. No one is forcing anyone to use it, but again, if you'd like something else other than Homebrew, it's here. It's also completely encouraged, and even supported, to run Homebrew alongside zerobrew.
I am honestly happy to answer any questions that anyone may have. I think the sentiment is that this is some vibe coded slop, which I'd argue it probably was earlier this year. But since taking over as the sole maintainer some months ago, I have put genuine effort into making it worth using / looking into. I hope that comes across as so for people who see this.
Ok thanks bye.
Show HN: Absolute best option for networkmanager in Rust
Neovim sweetspot between trad coding and AI coding
`nmrs` is officially stable v1.0.0 released
Super excited to say I've finished `1.0.0` which deems my library API as stable. Breaking changes will only occur in major version updates (`2.0.0`+). All public APIs are documented and tested.`nmrs` is a library providing NetworkManager bindings over D-Bus. Unlike `nmcli` wrappers, `nmrs` offers direct D-Bus integration with a safe, ergonomic API for managing WiFi, Ethernet, and VPN...
Finally; a genuinely good GUI for NetworkManager on Wayland
It actually subscribes to the d-bus interface.
I just released v0.2.0-beta and I'm continuing on a major refactor. Open to all critiques, PR's, bug reports, etc.
For those who are familiar with Textual, I noticed there wasn't an extension for syntax highlighting, indentation, etc. for NeoVim users so I decided to make one!
Here's the repo https://github.com/cachebag/tcss-nvim-plugin
This is my first plugin so if you see an issue, you are more than welcome to submit a pull request. I am open to all feedback, and criticism.
Thanks so much! I know it's a super niche issue but I hope it's helpful to someone out there.
