I don't want a cloud login telemetry of when I am using my computer, an account that can be disabled by a provider, and constant ads to backup to onedrive. I also moved to linux because of this. (was already a linux guy, but Windows is completely in my rear-view now.)
"NO LLMs for finding bugs" is easier written as "Don't use the tools your adversaries will"
I've written code a long time and that's probably the dumbest rule I've seen.
This sounds like a very much wanted release of mental stress to me.
Nice to see one that isn't trying to grow into an agent business or cloud service.
It seems with AI models this space is ripe for on-domain ad sales as a SaaS. Just pay an invoice to "advertise here" Have an AI make sure the links adhere to content policies. Don't track visitors or charge per click. Just pay a fee and get the banner.
I feel the exact same way about Amazon lists and that's what I use them for. I wonder if that's why the "Add to List" button is somewhat hard to find, and if they regret the feature.
This. And to make it even better: every law should only be about one thing, just the thing it's meant to deal with, and nothing else.
Slope's Game Room is a popular Youtube channel and he makes video game history documentaries and other content.
It appears he ran afoul of Google and is danger of losing his account because of content he is not responsible for.
He copied the chat logs of a scammer who had doxxed him. They are written in a language he does not speak or read. He intended to share them with a Spanish-speaking friend who can translate them properly for him. These were uploaded to his google drive account.
That text, which he did not write and cannot read, contained what Google considers against their content policy as hate speech, and has flagged DJ Slope for deletion and cut him off.
He is pleading for help from anyone who can get in contact with Google to help him in this matter.
Since this is not commercial, how does it interact with California AB 2602?
If anyone from there reads the parent, they should know they have created an atmosphere where the worry of possible prosecution over responsible disclosure has the potential to scare away the best minds in our country from picking at these systems.
That just means the best minds from other, potentially less friendly countries, will do the picking. I doubt they will responsibly disclose.
I also have experienced various delays related to my cpap machine. I wonder how much of this debacle is because people in the know knew that this was coming, and therefore intentionally delayed anything to do with cpaps.
I guess I date myself, but cell phones were banned in my high school because of a strong association at the time with drug dealers. A teacher seeing one was equivalent to seeing contraband.
Wow. When someone is so well versed in a topic that everyone else has to use the world's most popular and advanced artificial intelligence to understand what they have just said. Bravo.
I think one should be careful using the term "click fraud" in this context. Someone who installs this extension doesn't in my mind qualify to be defrauding anyone. There is no contract in place, it isn't against the law to express interest in a product, and there's no technical controls being breached illegally as the browser is just sending a request to a server.
I like plutotv for this purpose. Feels pretty close.
Hanging onto stock from a company I co-founded a few years ago has caused me tons of stress because that company constantly files for tax extensions forcing me to do so as well.
I have other financial processes which rely upon timely processing of my completed tax filing, and every year it causes me trouble. So if something is thought to be worthless and about to fold, "just hang onto it" could cause a non-zero amount of headaches.
Sending this to my senator would just notify her of what company she should reach out to for a campaign contribution.
I have found my doppleganger. The exact same technologies, progression, I even wrote a VIN scanning app for car dealers myself. My mind is blown.
I'm a newbie to this stuff, but I did manage to get Dalai Llama up and running with llama and alpaca 7B and 13B.
The results I get seem to be random spitouts of reddit or facebook posts. Very often it even says something like "Next Post >>" or has a timestamp of the post.
Is this using the same model? Is there some kind of tuning I have to do?
Perhaps the way hn comments work. I read this page earlier this morning and all the comments were about how nobody wanted anything to do with Elon Musk. Now it is different.
Matching tshirts and signs for a decent sized group aren't cheap. I see stuff like this often in protests. Who pays?
Honestly, the "if you use edge" piece is what is disappointing to me. Did they also have to make a browser play with this stuff? I prefer Firefox.

I've been playing around recently again with game development, which requires creating lots of little toy projects.I wanted to standardize my project structure and create a repeatable process for standing up a new LOVE2D app using Moonscript as the primary development language. This project is a simple project structure and build task for visual studio code. Currently only tested on Windows.
Thank you all for everything I find on here, and for being the wonderfully brilliant group of people you are.
Merry Christmas HN
> I don't think they have put much work into this yet.
Thank goodness, there's still a chance they can come to their senses.
I love Leo and have been a fan since TechTV days. His inability to remove political opinions from his netcasts, primarily the loathing echo chamber that he fosters, make it very difficult to listen to TWIT regularly. But I still power through it occasionally because it's a good show and his guests are very informed.
It's a loophole of practicality that is often exploited by executive branch regardless of political party.
Initiate a policy or order, mitigating the immediate damage. Then, days, months or years later, a court will decide you didn't have that power and will reverse it. But the threat or problem was already dealt with and there are no repurcussions except political capital spent.
So it would seem safe to say that financial crimes can take a very long time to bring charges. Why is the smoking gun so buried?
Seems like targeting businesses.
Businesses have this odd existential mandate of having to make more money than they spend, or they would disappear. This doesn't typically happen to humans, so less humans follow that rule and subsidize losses with credit.
Therefore people who want to force things that require money to implement go to who they perceive to have the money to burn.
