Also if you didn't want to do a hx-confirm, you could pop up a separate modal on button press. And then when the delete is pressed in the modal use a hx-target to update the specific row.

There are a lot of words the author used to simply say, "I'm going to start my pet project, which I also believe is going to fail very soon for a number of reasons"

Not much actual good content here.

Thank you for this. I had no idea this series existed! It's exactly the level of info I want when picking up a new topic!

And bonus is my local library stocks many of them!

HTMX has a complimentary framework like alpinejs called Hyperscript [0]. (On second thought not exactly like alpine..)

The real image loads faster for me than the fake one. So I just click the first picture and it's correct.

Is that by using that radarr watchlist integration?

Ask HN: How do you optimise your outlook workflow?

There not that much discussion on this on the internet as it is quite personal, but I am really interested to see what "hacks" people have added into outlook (or others) to optimise their workflow, more than just simple "move to folder" rules. A lot of the standard webpage's just seem to show "grouping" as advanced usage. What do you do? Any advanced usage using things like columns, formulas,...

I use materialistic also, but as far as I'm aware that hasn't been an update to the app in years. In addition I believe the materialistic app listing on Google Play is also been removed.

Do you have some updated version that I'm unaware of?

100% agree. Made me feel a bit nauseous.

Ask HN: How do I start learning about lower level compiled languages?

Hi HNI work quite a lot with Python and JS, and some other higher level languages, but have recently wanted to get involved in lower level languages, particularly NIM. I have already started coding with it, but it comes with a whole range of new topics that are semi-unknown to me, heaps, stacks, memory management, pointers, compilers, debugging compiled applications, garbage collection, etc....

I have a blog post on setting up a Hugo + Netlify blog on my own blog.

https://www.amishbhadeshia.co.uk/posts/setting-up-a-new-blog...

Use the integrated logging handler. That's all you need.
Some time ago I was trying to transition to platform to help me capture my own personal notes and organise my knowledge. BookStack was a good front runner, but I think the lack of mobile editing along with the hassle of upgrades made me end up using Notion.

Now by all means notion isn't perfect at all, but for me who just wanted to start writing notes it seems the right choice at the time.

I would like to switch to BookStack as it looks great and is a great product, but the one issue that worries me is when it comes to upgrades and migrations. Generally I found when upgrading database based platforms I end up messing up hugely causing myself a huge headache, and then eventually not upgrading at all. For example I used Monica CRM, and totally botched the upgrades eventually just closing it down and using Google contacts instead.

If there was an easy way to solve for that I'd definitely be on board with self-hosting it myself. But at the moment I just don't have the time to resolve upgrade issues :(

(on mobile) You could use Nimssequence iterators

[x.name for x in someList if x.age > 5]

Is the same as:

x.filterIt(it.age > 5).mapIt(it.name)

In a way it reads better.

Re:GNU nano is my editor of choice on Friday August 13, 2021 @06:26PM (#28175478)
From the faq.

Does micro support Vi keybindings?

Currently micro does not have any sort of Vim emulation. However, this is the next major feature that is planned, so stay tuned.

Re:GNU nano is my editor of choice on Friday August 13, 2021 @05:50PM (#28175004)
I've been a really big fan of Micro[1]. A single binary with excellent out of the box features. Mouse mode, syntax highlighting, tabs etc

I think the word "more" implied it was 100% on top of the existing.

Keeweb is what I use on all platforms. Yeah it's an electron app but it supports natively storing the keepass file in the cloud. Works online or offline and has global autotype.

Works great for me!

Re:You don't really need a virtualenv on Monday February 15, 2021 @08:56AM (#26142773)
That's my point. I've always found it hard to set up dev containers. Also each dev container requires its own container, so I may have 10 python docker containers. My implementation only requires 1 image and temporary containers.
Re:You don't really need a virtualenv on Thursday February 04, 2021 @06:57AM (#26024608)
Ive never quite managed to get the hang of setting up a dev container. I'ts a bit too tricky for me.

I have resorted to using a throwaway dev container which mimics the local storage of packages. Hopefully someone find the below bash function useful.

The only issue I have using this method is that I cant use VSCode to Debug, which I am hoping to find a nice solution for, but nothing yet.

  function python() {
     docker run \
         -it --rm \
         --name python_$(pwd | sed 's#/home/##g' | sed 's#/#.#g')_$(date +"%H%M%S") \
         -u $(id -u):$(id -g) \
         -v "$(pwd)":"$(pwd)" \
         -w "$(pwd)" \
         -e PROJECT_ROOT="$(pwd)" \
         -e PATH="$(pwd)/vendor/bin/:${PATH}" \
         -e PYTHONUSERBASE="$(pwd)"/vendor \
         -e PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 \
         -e PIP_NO_CACHE_DIR=1 \
         --net=host \
         -h py-docker \
         python:3-slim \
         /bin/bash -c '/bin/bash --rcfile <(echo "PS1=\"[$(python --version)]:: \"") -i'
 }
Re:What I Use Instead of Google on Wednesday January 06, 2021 @10:59AM (#25658830)
As others have said Google Photos backup via RClone has some caveats, mainly not downloading at original quality. Google Takeout does solve this but but in weird hierarchies.

I stumbled on a new project which simulates a browser download using a headless Chrome Developer tools session[0]. Looks interesting, supports continuation and can be ran on a cron job. Worth a look.

Correct, spoofing can be done with the "FakeGPS Free" app and developer options. Or via an emulator.
Re:Show HN: System for Private Data Management on Saturday December 26, 2020 @01:12PM (#25545186)
Whilst in theory this is a great idea to manage such information, it feel like a pretty basic level of management. The functionality is broad but flat, so much so that for my use cases it's not feature filled enough to warrant using. However definitely agree for the right user, this type of application would be great.
