I remember the zune music player. Really loved the palette of colors they used and the minimalist interface
Re:Ask HN: Favorite way to typeset mathematical notes? on Wednesday November 08, 2023 @05:18PM (#38197951)
I use Obsidian for this.

Basically you have a markdown file and add latex when needed. It's not the best tool if you need to format the document in a very specific way, but for personal notes works really well

Factorio is what you’re looking for

Pick an open source project that interests you and spend a month on it. I would do it with the linux kernel if I had time

It depends a lot on the target audience, but some subreddits also have a Slack/Discord channel where you can be more open about your intentions and get immediate feedback.

What I like about this model is that if any customer is really interested in your product, you can start a video call and discuss about it. Also, you can put these people on an email list of interested people (with their permission), which can be your first cohort.

This.

The best references I know of are listed in that comment.

I just wanted to emphasize David Beazley's videos. The video [0] about python concurrency I consider a masterpiece.

Start cold.

I had money saved up for a few months.

I sent some cold emails to some companies that I knew might be interested in my profile and contacted people looking for freelancers, monthly ask HN seeking freelancers was a good place to start. Also, I contacted some friends in the market offering my services.

Note to anyone considering doing something similar: Networking is an important business, don't neglect it.

Accept that I didn't need a regular job like everyone else.

I abandoned my fear of being an entrepreneur and embraced the idea.

I lowered my cost of living, valued my skills, and started freelancing to pay the bills while I try to build something.

My best decision so far. Ironically today I work a lot more, but the realization of doing something with my time aligned with my dreams makes all the difference.

The project didn't move forward because they didn't get enough funding ? I can't believe that there aren't enough people interested in funding this.
