Re:Introducing Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @10:07PM (#49530907)
It doesn’t even remember what tabs are open so you can’t reopen them if you close them by accident. Orion is a disaster of an app.
Had a kid suspended for changing the icons on the Mac computers at school. He jsut wanted them to be prettier and was a wiz at pixelart.

Teacher claimed he hacked the computer because she couldn’t find icon and refused to admit she was wrong. Everyone hated her. Wonder why….

Any way kid became a legend after the suspension.

Re:1Password pricing increasing up to 33% in March on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @05:40AM (#47149852)
Will they fix the Chrome extension for this price increase or do I have to wait ~1 hour for it to sync or restart the browser? Check the rating of the extension compared to all others. It is shit, it has been shit for 1+ year.
My Siri just forgets to confirm the timer. So I go to find my phone swearing at it just to figure out it did set a timer, but for the wrong time. It simply didn't tell me.
One thing that blew my mind in a negative way, was pasting a phonenumber into the caller and not being able to edit it. If you paste a number and want for example to add the country code you simply cannot. You can only remove numbers.

If you want to edit it, you have to open the notes app, paste it, edit it and paste it back into the caller.

Re:Tailscale Has Partnered with Mullvad on Thursday September 07, 2023 @12:34PM (#37421569)
Shame you have to pay double if you want to use Mullvad inside and outside Tailscale.

I hope they work on integrating the services both ways so I can bring my Mullvad account number over.

Re:ProtonMail Rewrites Your Emails on Saturday July 08, 2023 @06:56PM (#36649609)
I had opinions on how it placed curly brackets for example, I wanted it more similar to C# with the bracket on a new line.

No big deal but a bit annoying to have two ways of doing it.

Re:ProtonMail Rewrites Your Emails on Saturday July 08, 2023 @12:58AM (#36641470)
Prettier which is a Ecmasceipt formatter. It basically doesn't have settings as a feature. You can change some things like eol and if you want to use tabs or spaces. Everything else is more or less as it comes, and they want it to be that way to stop discussions in the teams using it and to not allow feature creep.

I call Pettier a compromise tool, noone is happy noone is too mad when you force it on checkin etc

I understand that viewpoint and I can see the value in it.

The point I was making is that they done no meaningful improvements on Android since five years. If onenote supports rich text the mobile app should do the same.

I enjoy the rich text since I'm not very organised with my notes, I don't have the patience or discipline to neatly write my thoughts down, I mostly copy paste things and write it in one big OneNote document. I have like 90 different random notes in my 2020 forward dumping note.

I those cases highlighting important info is nice, so I don't have to visually remember where the important things are.

I noticed if I don't allow the chaos I just don't write notes so I prefer this way. I started using todo tasks for things I need to do soon, so babysteps to becoming a compete human ;)

It is a shame Microsoft had basically abandoned OneNote The android app still can't change fonts after 5 years of development. It is pure insanity how little MS cares about their best product They made it brilliant at the start and since then stated they won't update it anymore.
Re:Buying an iPad Pro for coding was a mistake on Friday June 30, 2023 @03:40AM (#36531725)
God I hope your wish never comes true.

I don't understand why a device can't just be for consumption of media. Why is everyone trying to force this to become a computer with an annoyingly complicated navigation UX and the rest of the ceaveats when using a complete OS.

If I ever have to worry about CPU usage or driver issues on my iPad I will be the one leaving. I bought an iPad NOT to work on it. It is my vacation device so work can never call me and ask me to do something quickly

I telli code has a new way where you can click a API or Nuget and it brings examples of code using that API FROM Github.

Super useful since you can see different ways people use them, for example how people would use an API synchronous or asynchronous.

The bad thing is, it brings all code regardless of license So it will happily bring you GPLv3 code as an example. Not a good idea to study code like that if you work on closed source.

Also it doesn't seem to ask for permission to use the examples.

Aren't you the coolest kid in the playground, or the guy on the sideline cheering on the coolest guy. Actually just staring in hoping someone would notice you. Yeah I think is it he last one.
Re:Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer on Tuesday June 06, 2023 @05:30AM (#36210267)
Google now occupies 50% of my screen with an intrusive non dismissable message telling me I need to enable autouodate of the apps in the appstore.

I am switching camp, Google is selling the illusion of choice. They want control back from options and I don't intend to be part of that journey.

It is hard trying it figure out what path to choose.

Do you just run Docker or do you combine it with Docker Compose?

Do you instead opt for Proxmox in combination with Podman?

Maybe you opt for something simpler like this tool; Sandstorm.

Or even more complex of a setup with a K8 cluster with combined with Gitops.

It is interesting and a lot of really good tools to chose from but it is not obvious to me.

Re:Mermaid Cheat Sheet on Friday February 24, 2023 @11:09AM (#34925971)
One thing missing from Mermaid is pointing arrows to class members, I use this sometime to create mapping diagram between entities that should be visible in more places than just the implementation code.

With PlantUML you can do this ClassA::memberB - - |> ClassC::memberD

There is an issue on github but no movement.

I think the comment you wrote is better served to you.

You ask for empathy and compassion where you offer none.

I don't think you understood what is being written, and went for wiritbg a comment attacking rather than exploring.

Re:Bitwarden Acquires Passwordless.dev on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @07:08PM (#34434976)
Honestly since I bought bitwarden premium two years ago, there hasn't been a single relevant improvement to the client. It is basically not getting any UX love.

No autocomplete on username, slow initial load, search function is sticky on desktop client but not on the rest. No way to easily add folders or reorganise multiple items.

I won't renew my subscription, not that they care anymore

Teams is written in Angularjs aka Angular 1 [0]

They rewrote parts of it to React when they made the weird half client for Windows 11. Not sure why those two clients haven't merged yet.

Re:The cold hard truth about electric vehicles in winter on Saturday December 24, 2022 @09:19PM (#34123433)
MG MQ4 has an option to preheat the battery, so if you know you are going to be charging in the next 30 minutes you can turn it on to be the optimal temperature. It does drain battery faster though so best make your calculations correct.
Re:Apple introduces end-to-end encryption for backups on Wednesday December 07, 2022 @10:26PM (#33903779)
Wish they worked on the clients on other platforms though. I have PC, iPad, Mac and Android. I want to use one storage solution for all platforms. Apple still is dragging their feet on making feature rich platforms for anything but Apple
Teams was more nefarious than that, if you click the x it minimizes the application, if you click exit the application from menu, it keeps a background process alive, ie seperate application, that you need to also exit. I hope they get fined to hell for that since it is so annyoing

They since have seem to have fixed this, but for most of the pandemic it was like as described. Very annoying at the least.

Re:Web Automation: Don't Use Selenium, Use Playwright on Thursday November 10, 2022 @01:50PM (#33551258)
It also has C# bindings, even though I think the C# documentation is a bit lacking compared to node.js and python

Brad is nice, don't try to soil his reputation because you disagree with him on the features he wants to bring into VIM
Re:Ask HN: Why is Microsoft Teams still so bad? on Wednesday September 21, 2022 @07:40PM (#32933088)
Must be that they are not true Scotsmen, if they were it wouldn't eb an issue and if it si an issue it for sure never happened to you
Re:The silent majority in software on Monday August 29, 2022 @06:50AM (#32636620)
I also think HN usually come from the same background with predominantly comments from California USA or USA in general.

Compare any topic relating to capatilism, the plights of the low income classes or politics in general. I often amuse myself comparing the takes between the two sites relating it those topics.

Also HN is more clinical, it discussed the death of Swedish reporter like it was a cold case ready to be ripped through.

And also more easily distracted by seemingly innocent open questions like in politics for example "Why is it X job to care about this?" since you can't dismiss it with a short meme it creates discussion that the OP only wanted to distract from the original article.

Apart from that HN discourse is 100% better than reddit and I agree with you in some terms.

Re:uBlock Origin works best on Firefox on Monday August 22, 2022 @05:34AM (#32549244)
Now try twitch... It is impossibly slow on Firefox.
Re:We're improving search results when you use quotes on Friday August 05, 2022 @05:24AM (#32353635)
Just bring back the default to be to search for what I typed. I know what I want

Some colleagues at work have switched off Google since C# regularly gets ignored as a parameter. It didn't use to.

Just annoying having to argue with a tool every day.

Did you reply to wrong comment? Did you just have a Google alert for Facebook dying?

My point is you should dispute the original claim that it is life or death for Facebook instead of the subcomment running with that theory.

I think Facebook is doing OK, but they have issues breaching the younger democratic, which is worrying them.
