For the photon the time passed is 0 right?
Re:Show HN: A little physical breakout clone on Thursday August 06, 2026 @02:38AM (#49193281)
Thanks for feedback. I'll see what I can do with cursor getting out of the play window, would cursor lock be a solution? (click once to lock, click twice to unlock).

Yeah the physics, this is ~ 5th internal version already, there were more pronounced corner angles at some point, but it got unplayable.

Big block levels; The idea is to encourage the player to find two bounce solutions, where first bounce is spinned and 2nd would be to 'correctly' translate that spin into upward speed.

Thanks for feedback, it appears I need DeviceOrientationEvent.requestPermission() call before the game can tilt (Maybe in next version), and I can't force a true programmatic fullscreen mode using standard JavaScript code on iOS 13 and newer.
Re:Show HN: A little physical breakout clone on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @03:37AM (#49179720)
There is a triple dot menu at the top, and then click the ball and it should present with 4 different type of mobile controllers (one being tilt for example). p.s. I haven't tested the game on mobile devices much, I haven't tested iOS at all.

There is 3 types of bricks (common, magical and unbreakable), the ones with 'magical' powers will trigger different 'power-ups'.

The new beta brings some ornamental debris and slightly worse fps: https://brontosaurusrex.github.io/physical/v8beta/

(f to show fps, shift+f to reset lowest fps)

Counter will be disabled in the near future, thanks for feedback.

According to the plausible we got staggering 82 hits since yesterday. Roughly 50% desktop and 50% mobile, with average time on page 1 minute and 24 seconds.

Re:If AI writes your code, why use Python? on Tuesday May 12, 2026 @03:41AM (#48105369)
Is there a blocker that would prevent future AI to write perfect assembler (for n architectures) in 1st pass?
Re:GitHub CLI now collects pseudoanonymous telemetry on Wednesday April 22, 2026 @10:42AM (#47864369)
"I'am watching you" is neat way to communicate with people?
Re:DaVinci Resolve releases Photo Editor on Tuesday April 14, 2026 @12:38AM (#47761306)
Ok, I will have to take my time to figure out why the valid license is not starting my resolve on offline machine now.
Re:So where are all the AI apps? on Tuesday March 24, 2026 @10:48AM (#47503428)
Intel AI denoiser in Blender.
How can a human communication needs be replaced with something that is read-only?
Very small deepseek:r1 (5GB) does 'feel' ambiguity

but it doesn't seem to figure out that car and human are in the same location. Quite funny imho https://brontosaurusrex.github.io/2026/02/17/Should-I-walk-o...

At least solver seems faster (if not better) in later versions? p.s. My try at 'flag in the wind' in Blender from around 2022: https://0x0.st/s/aJ6DNj2pEHzRdBiscEIsbQ/KCsK.mp4 I do remember it took me all day to get somehow realistic motion.
Re:Zoxide: A Better CD Command on Tuesday September 23, 2025 @12:44PM (#45349513)
Switched as well, with "alias j='z'" seems to be 1:1 replacement so far. Also did 'zoxide import --from=autojump ".local/share/autojump/autojump.txt" --merge'.
Re:Zoxide: A Better CD Command on Tuesday September 23, 2025 @03:29AM (#45343886)
I've been using autojump, called with 'j'. Any pros of zoxide over that? https://packages.debian.org/sid/autojump
Re:Show HN: I wrote a modern Command Line Handbook on Friday May 30, 2025 @03:44AM (#44133906)
Is there an explanation why? (Average line count in my scripts is 115).
Re:Open source and self hostable/private file converter on Saturday April 12, 2025 @12:10PM (#43665628)
Is there a version of this that would support my custom presets for AVC/HEVC mp4 encoding with video filters like deinterlace/resize and similar (and/or audio filters like ebu R128)? (p.s. Also my usual input type is cinefrom/mov, which this one is not happy with for some reason)
Interesting, is that a more complete variation of fuse.js? (Just pluged-in fuse.js into my static jekyll blog)
Re:Ask HN: What's the "best" book you've ever read? on Monday October 07, 2024 @01:08PM (#41768224)
Groving up: Papillon (Henri Charrière - 1969) & Samurai! (Saburo Sakai -1957) Lately: Project Hail Mary (Andy Weir - 2021) Obviously: Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution - 25th anniversary edition (Steven Levy - 1984/2010) also: I've read all the books from David Thorne, last one: Let’s Eat Grandma’s Pills (David Thorne - 2022)
Re:Re: Do people IRL know you have a blog? on Tuesday July 23, 2024 @02:41AM (#41043196)
Some do, mostly when the problem they are trying to solve is somewhere in my blog past. I've learned over the years not to advertise the blog/page, due to weird questions I get, for example: Q: How costly is this? (A: it's free, minus my time), Q: Why is it so ugly? (A: When you write your perfect jekyll skin, I will use it, you know it's about my future self searching for the info, not about beauty), Q: Why? (A: I always find something interesting to read in my blog, unlike your corporate page). p.s. The long-tail effect has been predicted at least 20 years ago, so I understand that views will be low or none: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_tail

Re:We need visual programming. No, not like that on Monday July 15, 2024 @04:37AM (#40966174)
Two domain focused examples: Blender material node: I could imagine certain material nodes to be highly annoying to script (or even represented differently than nodes), even something relatively simple like this https://i.imgur.com/kETcJYE.png (nodes), https://i.imgur.com/eddAhcv.png (final render) Fusion comp node: On the other hand, this seems like a lot of blocks for this simple image: https://i.imgur.com/ftfHngt.png (Cool thing about Fusion is that any node can be copy/pasted to notepad as text and vise-versa) Note: I'am neither Blender nor Fusion expert.
Absolutely, there is no happy accidents in VFX.
There is a typo in font style section: Blod italic (should be Bold).
Re:JPEG XL against AVIF tested on ImageEngine on Sunday June 11, 2023 @11:19PM (#36288072)
Very interesting, thanks for building/sharing (I imagine you are the author of this page?). Questions I would have: a. Is it possible to dig out the exact cli command used for each of this encodings? b. With libavif, did you test film-grain-test and what are your findings if any? c. With libavif, did you test denoise-noise-level and what are your findings if any? Of course I have no wish to put you into any homework mode, so feel free to ignore this.
When it gets really confusing is when you are on a sailboat and get the command to pull 'altabasa' (you may know it's a type of rope, but no idea which one or even where is the pulling location).
It also seems to explain the docs nicely (very useful for me): https://whatdoesthiscodedo.com/g/b304a96 It is a bit confusing that it calls it 'code' thought. If there is a cheap way to diff the 'code' from 'docs' in the answer?
Re:Ask HN: How do I get into Art? on Tuesday January 17, 2023 @03:15PM (#34418216)
It is hard to sit down and start, so I usually trick myself with: 'I will just draw one line today and the rest can follow tomorrow'. Once you get going is always more than one line (I'm an amateur Blender user, so 2 lines are already a polygon). This stuck with me (volume, not 'quality'); https://www.blenderguru.com/articles/7-habits-highly-effecti... p.s. And after N lines * N completed pictures you will automagically know what you want. In my case certain image will form (or an idea) - this could take days/weeks, this are usually small and stupid, but that doesn't prevent me from realization (or at least an attempt) - it's all just for /me.
