Reminder that Twitter (X) has done similar things (shadow-banning) before.
A lot of orgs seem to be implementing their own version of this (we are), but having an out of the box solution is a great starting point.
I love European woodworking equipment. It's so much better than what we can get in the US.
> Some of us are less fortunate and work in companies where every deadline was yesterday. Every task is wildly different and often means jumping into someone else’s project that you are seeing for the first time...In that environment, making all of this a prerequisite for shipping is a pretty good way to end up on a PIP. And then out of a job.
After reading this and having no other context: this sounds like a terribly mismanaged company. One bad month and it sounds like you could go under.
Some times you have to slow down to speed up. If that means working with clients on commitments, then be honest with them. If your sales team is over-committing, tell them to stop it. The situation is precarious as is.
From an SRE's perspective, this is a good thing.
I've been using this method for about a week - great outcomes from it so far: clear, clean language that sounds like something someone would actually write.

"Luigi-Inspired" is the new dogwhistle?
Philidelphians burn down their own city whenever their NFL team wins or loses a Superbowl, so this shouldn't be surprising.
hot take: this is how legislation should work

Yet earnings estimates remain solid.
Great idea - M&A your way out of bad execution
"Act as if someone else smarter than you is going to look at your code" - best advice I've ever gotten
You're right.
But society where the basis has a liberal perspective, individual sovereignty is held in the highest regard, private property is protected, and the nuclear family is the underpinning of it, I'm okay with. Judeo-Christian societies have this, and maybe aside from Sikhs and some Buddhist sects I don't know of any other religion that does this.
Is there an HN version of slash-dotted?

There's a bullish AI perspective that pushes deshittification, in which the product is _better_ because of the speed and quality that AI can (theoretically) provide. Are you seeing this?
Feels like the author is having some sort of existential crisis.
Seems like there are a lot of events missing
