Hence why the truely great generals (alexander, genghis khan, etc ) understood the importance of logistics and incompetant ones like napoleon didn't.

> and they almost all had to walk the ~3,000 kilometers to Moscow

Closer to 800 km than 3000. Napoleon's invasion of russia started at the neman river near lithuania. It didn't start in paris.

Now compare napoleon's "short walk" to moscow with the thousands of kilometers of logistics that alexander or genghis khan had to deal with ( and they succeeded while napoleon failed miserably ).

Another great napoleon logistic fail was his failure in egypt where he lost another army. It shows how propaganda frames the people's minds that we think that napoleon was a competent, let alone a great military leader. Objectively, Napoleon's major failures and the fact that he destroyed the french empire makes him one of the greatest military fools in human history.

Re:Smart TVs like Samsung, LG and Roku are tracking everything on Thursday November 28, 2019 @10:25PM (#21661777)
Not just tvs. All appliances are getting "smart". Refrigerators, washers, etc are or will track you too. You'll have the convenience of connecting to your fridge to see what you need to buy at the supermarket. Eventually, the fridge will just send you notifications of things you need to buy. Very convenient, but the fridge manufacturer will also know what you eat, when you shop, where you shop and everything you do in your kitchen. I suspect sooner or later, there will be period of consolidation amongst the appliance companies so that they will be able to see everything you do in your house.
Perhaps the myth of the 70 hour google work week is a remnant of their startup days.

My experience was like yours - 35 hours per week ( plus summer fridays and tons of personal days and vacation days ). The only exception was the one startup I worked at where we did put in a lot of work in the hopes of a huge payoff. But even there, we put in 70+ hours a week or two before a major milestone/deliverable/etc.

Sounds like Son is trying to get rid of money? Reminds me of Brewster's Millions ( excellent film - can't go wrong with Pryor and Candy ). Maybe Son has to get rid of $100 billion to get $1 trillion?
