braum

sounds like an easy win for a prosecutor for felony stalking.

there needs to be more separation from prosecutors and cops. I know a lot of places now have prosecutors who are actively against cops, that is not what I mean.

the prosecutors are supposed to be unbiased and make decisions on evidence. we know they don't regardless of their political leaning. but that is the standard we (citizens) should hold them accountable. unfortunately there are too may bootlicking voters who just want to feel "safe" and have zero courage of their own even in the voting booth.

we need to stop giving agencies money based on stats. that is one cause to a lot of these problems. then the cops and agencies get all twisted and in a tissy when a tool that made stat pumping easier like right now the flock cameras.

How does Ollama help with Claude Code? Claude code runs in terminal but AFAIK connects back to anthropic directly and cannot run locally. I hope I'm missing something obvious.

just a few days ago I had an idea for a shirt and sent it to a designer on fiverr. I was very pleased with what I got back. "Secrets are Power" was my nod to one of my favorite movies Sneakers! Rest in Piece Mr. Redford.

http://bit.ly/3Ip3tr3 link to the shirt if you want to look at it. there is a message encoding in the background.

this is fun but you are killing speed by not showing the next 2-4 words. I'm not even that fast really 85wpm but having to wait for the next word it is leaving a lot of speed on the table for no reason.
up for My Cousin Vinny reference!
Tim Cook being replaced is long LONG overdue!
yep! I just got it the other day. I upgraded to get the variants but I quickly settled on the Regular which is included with $75 Dev license. It's amazing even using it for non-code like in Obsidian.
If you had to choose one to start would it be Sustainable Rails or Agile Web Development with Rails 8?
I've been trying Rails again thanks to Lex and DHH podcast. The official docs are good but have some obvious errors in the code snippets, that were not obvious to me until I asked AI to explain.

Also I was reading the free chapters of the "Ruby on Rails Tutorial" but it still refers and suggests using AWS Cloud 9 which no longer allows new users, since 2024... I emailed the author but they have not replied. At $39 per MONTH it seems a bit much for such an obvious oversight. Seems borderline gauging to me to pay $39 just for the eBook, it is not for sale otherwise AFAIK. And to have the first chapter about getting set up to reference something that has been outdated since July 25th of 2024 does not leave a good impression for me.

https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/devops/how-to-migrate-from-aws-...

I'm not a cheap sob, I will pay for content and books. But when the free content is already out of date... I don't hold much hope for the premium content and chapters at $39mo.

anyone make a PDF version of this?

So will Adobe put more resources to help their pre-maturely abandoned XD catchup?
"What would you do for a Klondike bar?"

"It is? What would you do for clone drinks?"

I think it worked out as it was supposed to. Mercedes could have pitted during SC and got fresh tires, they decided not to, thought they had it wrapped up. F1 is a team sport and Mercedes can't stand they made an error.

FIA made two poor decisions, first allowing Hamilton to keep his advantage after he goes off track. Then they allowed the odd restart with SC. To me it evened out.

Of course, Mercedes will appeal, they can't stand to lose. And if they had won, I would expect RedBull to appeal that stupid call at the beginning of the race. Either one deserves the crown.

Congratulations Max!

Re:Backblaze IPO on Tuesday November 02, 2021 @09:42PM (#29090135)
yep. that is how it worked for me as well
Re:Backblaze IPO on Tuesday November 02, 2021 @06:31PM (#29088383)
Well I'm a BackBlaze customer and have been for a year or more. Not sure what else would qualify me to be part of the IPO before it goes public. Also AFAIK there is nothing preventing them from allowing customers to be part of it, but there may be a limiting factor. Some way to narrow the list. I have more than one computer subscribed, that could be part of the filter.
Re:Backblaze IPO on Tuesday November 02, 2021 @06:22PM (#29088277)
Fidelity is handling the IPO and if you have been a customer of BackBlaze for a while apparently you will get to buy before public, up to 1,000 shares between $15-17 per share. That is my understanding.
I wear hearing aides every day. SMALLER would be better and mine have BT5 and rechargeable. they are NOT cheap about $6k pair with 3 year complete warranty included. Again having options is the best thing, making them larger for me would mean they are more easily dislodged when I bend over to pick something up or are wearing them when working in shop. Having some that have better weather or fully waterproof would be great. I normal take them off when working outside or in the shop. The sweat makes them mostly useless because of the "noise" the sweat makes against the mics. Then the sweat also makes them slick and they will not stay in place. Having options is ideal and affordable options would be great. I don't know why these things are $6k pair when they share a lot of tech with modern in ear options from bose/apple/ect.
Re:Stripe Atlas Front End Carousel Shows Wrong Images on Thursday September 30, 2021 @03:31PM (#28710324)
Windows 10 x64

Microsoft Edge Version 93.0.961.52 (Official build) (64-bit)

It works fine in firefox, it's something with that carousel.

is crypto currency gold (asset building) or is it cash (transactional)? some spent $100 on food and some probably didn't know what do to with it and left it alone. if you knew right now that a $1 bill would be effectively worth $100 in 5 years would you use it to buy food? Bitcoin in particular was originally supposed to be a transactional mechanism but along the way it was either too slow or too expensive. Until the price is stable and remains so it will likely remain only something to own and not something to spend.
Re:Amiga 2000 EATX PCB on Saturday July 24, 2021 @07:21AM (#27939924)
sincere questions. what is it about the Amiga, in 2021, that still has such interest to warrant a project like this? Does it do something a modern Mac or PC can't? Does it have a unique ability that does something better?
Re:Apple TV 4K Gets A12 Bionic on Tuesday April 20, 2021 @01:40PM (#26877835)
AFAIK HDR is in the current 4k apple tv.
a new version, DaVinci Resolve 17 event Nov 9th, 10am PST.
I wish more people would try this over openscad. I like openscad but the UI and with cadquery you use python! and now I noticed "CadQuery supports Jupyter notebook out of the box"
Re:16-inch MacBook Pro on Wednesday November 13, 2019 @10:28AM (#21525175)
right... a "Pro" computer with only USB-C ports, no HDMI out, no SD card reader, soldered memory.... dongle dongle dongle. no thanks. (before i'm accused of being a troll. I have a MBP with all those things circa 2005 or so, it's old and slow AF now. But still works for what I use it for and I have quite a few PC laptops as well.
Re:Transforming a Tesla Model 3 into a Pickup Truck on Tuesday June 18, 2019 @04:39PM (#20218154)
already been done, RichRebuilds talks about it on the show he did with Joe Rogan and he's talked about it on videos as well.
I got mine back without issue shortly after they made them available to order. I wasn't convinced it was for me then but I've changed my mind recently and now i'm looking to buy one again. I had no issue receiving a paper check for the original deposit.
Re:PayPal vs. Stripe for small businesses in 2019 on Wednesday March 27, 2019 @12:22PM (#19502542)
it captures data by default... https://fman.io/docs/metrics at least he is open about this. still don't like that is it ON by default or that it's built in to the core code.
Re:PayPal vs. Stripe for small businesses in 2019 on Wednesday March 27, 2019 @12:18PM (#19502496)
yep. no easy way (via "settings") to change the font and my old eyes need the default font size bumped a few times. I did the tutorial which is excellent and got me up to speed quickly! no way to search for a file, at least I didn't see it in the docs. there is a plugin for "fuzzy" search within a folder but not the entire drive. it's a great little utility but isn't done cooking and the $18 ask is a bit much as it is now IMHO.
