To try it out just email me (email in bio) and I can send you free minutes.

Similarly if anyone is in high school or has a child in high school I'll hook you up with free tutoring, all I want in return is feedback!

Re:GitHub is apparently in crisis again on Thursday February 04, 2016 @11:14PM (#11039359)
>if GitHub goes down, the software development world practically stops

Oh my goodness. Is this article just plain wrong, or does a large enough subset of Silicon Valley & friends actually do this that they mistook that behavior as including the other 99% of the software development world?

I haven't handed it over to anyone yet. Email me at [email protected] :)
I don't know, I had them running on EC2 instances with a million other things.

Hipster Domain Finder could probably run for $10 a month on DO, and 99 Haskell for $20 a month.

Normally if I get tired of maintaining and paying for monthly hosting of something I just let it die. In this case there are too many users of these services for me to comfortably do that.

Tell HN: Looking to pass on the ownership of two open source projects

I have two open source websites/services that are semi-popular. I'm looking to pass on the ownership and domain names of these products to someone who I can trust to run them. If you're interested in running one or both of them please let me know! My email is in my profile, or you can reply to this thread.1) Hipster Domain Finder 2.0https://github.com/bramgg/hipster-domain-finderUses Python 3...

Re:Show HN: How I put together a lightweight blog in a few hours on Wednesday September 30, 2015 @05:29PM (#10307410)
Done. And I found and fixed the damn problem that was causing it to crash in the first place.

Sorry about that.

Those are very generous numbers.

I might as well plug #hackernews on Freenode here even though it's dead now.
Re:Show HN: Turn any image into a collage of emojis on Friday July 24, 2015 @06:05AM (#9940996)
Fun, but you should really make it render with real emojis so people can copy/paste the results.

> The hackers aren't a part of a social movement prepared to proudly go to jail for the case of making cheating illegal.

They also aren't guided by morals at all. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that releasing this data would have massive life-ruining repercussions for both good and bad people. Applauding the hackers is incredibly naive, unfortunately that seems to be the theme of this thread.

Re:Ask HN: Joining the Product Hunt Community? on Sunday July 19, 2015 @09:12PM (#9913540)
OP: To answer your question, make something worth posting (can be a simple side project) and tweet Ryan Hoover asking for an invite. AFAIK he got traction initially by tweeting at people who posted Show HNs, and even though PH is past that now I'm pretty sure he's still very active on Twitter and your chances of being accepted are quite high.

Wat

I'm sure this is what they do.

Whenever registering a domain with a TLD that provides zone files with my real WHOIS info filled out I get an email asking me to pay to "get my website on Google".

Not since Google cleverly hid the feature by implementing automatic search as you type for that AdSense $$$
FYI http://yclist.com and CTRL+F are very helpful :)
Me and my friend like to bet on games of Miniclip 8 Ball Pool, because of that we don't mind spending money on the best cues to gain an advantage. It's really funny seeing how the game starts treating you differently once it identifies you as a "whale". I was just thinking the other day about how that data would be so valuable if it was able to be obtained before a player outed themselves as such. One problem I imagine a data-sharing platform like this would have though is games lying. A game publisher has more to gain from taking data and giving nothing back than following the rules of the platform. How do you ensure publishers are being honest with you?
99 Haskell is open source and I haven't tested all of the newer problems myself. I'm out right now on mobile, but if you think you've found an error please don't hesitate to patch it! I've tried to make modifying the problems as easy as possible:

Re:Tell HN: Kevin will be on Show HN again this Friday on Thursday June 18, 2015 @12:36AM (#9736859)
Looking forward to it. Can we re-submit multiple old Show HNs in hopes of seeing what he says?
I was saying your statement is obviously false. The onus is on you to provide proof for your original claim, not me.
> Most of 4chan left in response. Many alternative chan sites were started, including 8ch.net.

A very small fraction of the worst bored on a bad website left to join an even worse website.

Don't kid yourself.
