I’ve read about 15% - 20% of Imaginary Numbers are Real. It’s a great book, so far.

Re:Ask HN: What difftools and mergetools do you use on Mac? on Friday November 08, 2024 @08:20AM (#42086636)
Blank spaces are color coded so for easier detection, I can edit the file if I need to, and there are diffupdate commands for piecemeal merging of sections of the files.

I also use vimdiff. It’s magic.
I believe mediamtx can ingest the RTMP and present to a browser, via HLS or WebRTC.

You’re welcome. Sounds like what you want is RTMP or SRT. There are free solutions, for those, as well.
Re:Ask HN: How to learn UI/UX as a data/BE engineer? on Monday October 21, 2024 @10:52PM (#41910753)
I agree that Refactoring UI is good.

Also, The Non-Designers Design Book by Robin Williams.

And, I’m working through shiftnudge.com.

I’m working through https://calcworkshop.com/

C# with ASP.Net Core is amazing.
Re:Ask HN: Why macOS? on Tuesday March 12, 2024 @03:43PM (#39684031)
I enjoy using macOS because it’s got a good ui around unix user space tools, Microsoft Word, mobile development, and good virtual machines on Intel.
Re:Ask HN: What technologies are you using for new projects? on Friday January 05, 2024 @08:33PM (#38887407)
.Net and ASP.Net Core, Maui, and maybe Avalonia.
Re:Ask HN: Cross-platform GUI apps in 2024 on Saturday December 30, 2023 @02:19PM (#38818078)
C# and Avalonia are getting better as time goes on.
Re:Ask HN: What are your favorite tools? on Sunday December 24, 2023 @05:54PM (#38757830)
Vim, zsh, and dotnet
Re:Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use? on Saturday December 16, 2023 @09:23AM (#38664394)
I wrote a program that waits for a socket response. When I reboot a vm, I use it to know when I can ssh in:

https://github.com/brianmed/SocketFun/tree/main/socketwait

socketwait 192.168.1.10 22 --waitFor TcpRegexResponse --tcpRetries 300 --tcpRegexResponse '^SSH'

Is C# an option?
ASP.Net Core MVC deployed on Linux. Has everything + a sweet ORM. Also, WebAssembly support is good and improving.
Re:.NET Blazor for Web Development? on Friday January 27, 2023 @10:42AM (#34547266)
I really enjoy ASP.Net Core with Blazor WebAssembly. Only drawback, for me, right now is file size.

Linq in the browser is awesome.

I have not used, but I think Radzen is open source: https://blazor.radzen.com/

I enjoy ASP.Net Core and C#. Both development time and runtime are fast, most things feel architected and implemented well. And works in Linux.
Re:Ask HN: Is doing .NET development on a Mac viable today? on Saturday August 27, 2022 @07:02PM (#32624111)
I develop on macOS with my iMac. I’ve done some freelancing with ASP .Net Core and lots of side projects. Currently, I’m working on a Maui app that is iOS specific.

Using the terminal with dontnet Cli and vim is fantastic.

The Maui ecosystem is new, so there is that and my iMac is Intel.

I hosted a small site with .Net 5 and Linux. Works real well! You can use systemd, but I used supervisor.

Hosting a larger site or a saas would be even better..

Have you considered https://shadow.tech?
