Too bad the quantization of the CD is only 16 bits, if it had been only 20 bits, CD sound could have been above all critics. Still I don't really understand people that still buys vinyl, such an obsolete technology

I think it is a matter of months, before crypto mining is banned in Europe and the US. Just because cryptomining is a bottomless well : The more crypto miners earn money, the more they invest on graphic cards and the more they consume electricity. Inevitably, there will be supply problems

Re:What really happened at the Millennium Tower? on Wednesday November 17, 2021 @03:12AM (#29250291)
Those high tower are just nonsense, from a human and an ecological point of vue, especially for residential buildings. New buildings, should have no more than six floors
Re:Macron says France will build new nuclear energy reactors on Tuesday November 09, 2021 @04:50PM (#29167988)
For me, what emerges from this story is the lack of anticipation on the part of the French government. For years, nuclear power was discredited because it was not environmentally friendly, so we shut down power plants, and now we have to refabricate them? All this makes no sense. Moreover, the production of a nuclear power plant is very long, how are we going to do it in the meantime?
Re:Why Does Quantitative Easing Benefit the Rich? on Monday October 11, 2021 @10:20AM (#28828611)
If quantitative easing did not benefit the rich, it would not be adopted so long, it is as simple as that
Re:The computer chip industry has a dirty climate secret on Sunday September 19, 2021 @07:30AM (#28583484)

Re:Why Don't Rich People Just Stop Working? on Wednesday September 15, 2021 @12:21PM (#28541045)
Why would you "stop working", when you have a wonderful job ? Rich people almost always have interesting jobs, so no reason to stop
Re:Why Don't Rich People Just Stop Working? on Wednesday September 15, 2021 @12:09PM (#28540857)
richness is not only money, it's human relations, quality of life, all things that need some kind of work

The media’s handling of the Covid crisis has been dismal, no wonder, the public is turning away
Re:Is Covid-19 making us irrational? on Saturday August 21, 2021 @04:32PM (#28260333)

Decarbonized world does not exists. It's an invention of self-righteous/do-gooders/right-thinking people. Every human activity will generate CO2, it's inevitable

Don't be afraid of simplicity: The most simple it is, the better it is
The Club of Rome had said it in 1972, in "The Limits to Growth". Now the moment of truth is coming
Re:The Olympics Is a Racket on Tuesday July 20, 2021 @10:18AM (#27894012)
Couldn't agree more with this article. At last, someone say it loud
I don't think it's a good thing buying a vinyl turntable nowadays. There is a current hype with vinyl, but I am not sure it will last. Many people say that vinyl has a superior sound, but this is mainly because a good turntable adds some bass to the sound (And sometimes treble), compensating the lack of bass of bad loudspeakers, but with real good loudspeakers, CD usually sounds better
Re:Steve Wozniak speaks on Right to Repair [video] on Thursday July 08, 2021 @12:05PM (#27773841)
The problem is not only the right to repair, but that some product available for sale, are of such bad quality, that they will work only for a very limited time. Buying a good brand is the most important thing. For example, a good brand will provide spare parts to allow you to repair yourself

The only "Internet of things" I have in my home is my surveillance camera. Don't want to be a slave of this technology
Totally agree, but that's not new, makers have always sold laptops with not enough RAM. Two years ago, I extended the 8GB RAM of my Lenovo E330, to 16GB, and now I can keep it several years more. Buying a desktop or laptop PC with only 8 GB RAM is a nonsense nowadays, but unfortunately, few people are aware of that. And if you build a brand new gaming computer, you have to put 32GB of RAM, if you want to keep it many years
Re:Has UML died without anyone noticing? on Sunday April 25, 2021 @03:33PM (#26935826)
There was a big UML fashion in the company where I work, they even hired a specialist in the subject, did training. And a few years later the specialist left, and no one made UML anymore
Re:Get better at Googling on Friday April 23, 2021 @09:35AM (#26914592)
I was waiting for this article for so long. Yes, it is incredible, how many people do not know how to use properly Google, they are asking questions on forums, while a simple search would give them the response
