Seems to me certain goods, such as food and living costs have been inflating rather rapidly, but others such as technology and services have not. I have also seen certain geographic markets more affected by this than others. Mind sharing your reasoning behind a flat no?
I disagree. A normal user would assume their network would influence trending news.

What if a larger proportion of Facebook users are younger, which typically leans left, and therefore left news trends more? Oh, wait it is that way...

Perhaps you add more data to your profile. These AI algorithms are only as good as you train them. Like things you like, unlike things you don't like, add demographic and interests. It will get better with use.

This is brilliant and immediately reminded me of "wisdom of the crowd" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOucwX7Z1HU (start at 2:00 if TLDW).

Basically average crowd > individuals. 160 people guess # of jelly beans in a jar. Few are close, but averaging all the guesses leads to 4 away from actual.

Would be fascinating if applied to this as well...

In an attempt to corner market or security, possibly both?

Different evidence, same fear. Assuming trend continues, is there any alternative to war?
It's ignorant to assume any targets revealed by this program wouldn't be given a human intelligence analyst to verify accuracy before risking millions of dollars on a predator strike and the potential risk it was bad information. Enough said.
First, great article and fun thought experiment.

Second, you forgot to factor in the costs of bad management (half kidding).

- We are an ISP, lets rebuild every major app in existence, put our name on it, and deploy it as bloatware.

- We are an ISP, lets acquire a bunch of content and IP so we can provide unique content to our customers.

- We are an ISP, lets acquire company x that has nothing to do with our core services and infrastructure.

Bottom line: ISPs love wasting effort, resources, and time on products and services their customers don't want, and continue neglecting their core services that customers do want improvement on.
