Totally... unlike watching a movie, games keep them addicted. I have experienced situations where even toddlers played for 5 hours straight... I couldn't even muster the courage to ask them to lower their volume :-)
Re:I don't know if my job will still exist in ten years on Sunday March 08, 2026 @06:08AM (#47296033)
Irony indeed! After years of seeing no value, i finally cancelled my github copilot subscription. Poor quality product to say the least.

Coding job losses will continue.
If i have no memory/record of getting this vaccine (but there was a possibility that i could have already gotten the vaccine years ago), is it okay to take it again?

same here... at a species level, I would expect evolutionary benefits if immunity increased with exposure

I wish the market limits its punishment only to the groups you stated... usually the market tends to over-correct

No change. It's been as such (3k) for quite some time.
There is (was?) an internal (MSFT) system named Source Depot (sd). It may even be the case that he created it...
Android app developers (even those who do free/hobby apps) who publish on the Play Store are susceptible...
Re:If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich? on Friday November 19, 2021 @11:59AM (#29279340)
I heard this question first when it was posed to us in class by a Professor at the Univ of California, Berkeley... Ever since, it has evoked mixed reactions in me... my natural proclivity leans towards "becoming rich is not a priority"... but during the course of life, I have come to realize that those who have the riches tend to write the "rules" at every level of society... and so in retrospect, I keep asking myself, what is smart about handicapping myself in the golf of life by not prioritizing riches?!
Is this the case even with the mRNA based vaccines?

the worst is when the "About Us", "Company", "Help", "Contact Us" page links are at the "bottom" and you want to click on them... momentarily appearing and disappearing...
Re:The End of Employees on Thursday August 02, 2018 @03:35AM (#17669806)
As a small software agency owner based in the USA, i too experience the same dread as everdev... perpetual fear that i am failing to comply with some arcane rule/law especially at the city and state govt levels...
I guess a receipt could also be useful in the event of food poisoning or similar... also, i can imagine a few other edge cases where the info on a typical receipt (name of server/cashier, date and time of purchase, item/batch number of purchased product etc.) could be useful later on ...
this could be what he meant...

Re:Ask HN: Can you get away with not working? on Monday February 05, 2018 @01:28AM (#16307014)
I had a couple of employees working for me that used to do this... for more than three years they used to do the bare minimum (1-2 hours/day at most) ... I used to try to motivate/nudge them to at least automate parts of the work they were doing so that we could make a product (SaaS) offering out of it and provide that to additional clients and grow the business (of which all of us would benefit with generous profit sharing)... being a small business owner, i couldn't risk losing them... so I carried a fair amount of their load... Finding balanced people involves lot of luck as well!
Re:Hugh Hefner has died on Thursday September 28, 2017 @06:56AM (#15356177)
IQ 152 !

"Hefner went to Sayre Elementary School and then to Steinmetz High School, where, reportedly, his IQ was 152 though his academic performance was generally modest." https://www.biography.com/people/hugh-hefner-9333521

just out of curiosity, is there a way to set a spending limit? Or at least an alert when crossing a spending threshold?

These sort of rulings have their pros and cons... they prevent a chance for a crowd sourcing model of providing CC.
