Thanks!
Alex, cofounder here, 100% agree with you on the link sharing and that was the feature for us that was always missing.
We've got big plans for this, so we're really excited to get this beta live and start receiving feedback.
100% right for corporations. When speaking with some security professionals, one aspect they look for in open-source projects is whether it has a monetization plan behind it. This is to give some assurance that there is longevity to the project and that it won't be forgotten about in the future.
This is a very good point and I absolutely agree transparency on all fronts is important.
If you want to give your work away for free, people still need to hear about it some way, which would be the marketing side of it.
I think it's only misleading when someone markets their open source project without being up front about their monetization strategy (whether they have one or don't)

I think a clearly summarized report on key issues and takeaways each month can deliver the same result.

We're based in Europe and trying to figure out where best to register a company for our open source project.Expecting zero income at the start.Stripe Atlas seems like overkill, so we're considering UK or Estonia.Interested to hear what path others took.
After we cover both of our salaries, what type of work/life balance do you want?
The reason I think this is important, is the start is always a grind. But, when you get to the stage of going full-time, worst feeling is when one side thinks they are contributing more. Being aligned on expectations from the start will save lots of headaches in the future.
Another question, which I think you need to ask yourself, is if you would enjoy working with that person. Going with a cofounder means you're going to be spending a lot of time together. They could be the best in their field, but if they are insufferable, it's not worth the headache.

Well, here´s hoping it doesn't end in a divorce!
Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it! We´re still new and directions can always be changed, but I´d say our target is SMB. The ones who can´t afford the big players. Great suggestion with the content analytics, this is something we´ll look into!
Well, this startup is still new, so retrospective insights are a bit difficult. However, once we have a couple months under our belt of operating the business, then I think those personal accounts of experiences will be a lot stronger. I like your idea of hearing both perspectives.
Thanks Dan, looking into this now!

I'm interested to hear from others who have never met or rarely see their cofounders. What has worked best for your team?

What's stopping you? No signup needed, you just need to type in a whisky name. I love getting feedback :)
Writing things out on paper allows me to better evaluate my thoughts. I find it less overwhelming when I can visually see things rather than everything floating in my head.
Thanks! I'm keen to hear your dad's feedback.
Simplicity will always be the main focus, I want to make this as easy as possible to not overwhelm users.
No hoops to jump through, just whisky!

At the moment, the algorithm utilizes various tasting notes and other characteristics (price, etc) to determine what is the closest fit. While this has much room to improve, the general idea is there. I would like to get it to a point where users can create their own profiles with their personal ratings and then use that data to make the suggestions more accurate.
This is exactly what I was thinking, I was trying to avoid suggestions that end up being a $10k bottle of whisky, I wanted them to be as similar as possible, without needing to ask the user too many questions.
Once I start getting into the big crowdsourced data sets is when this will get really interesting to see the connections between preferences.
Sounds like I need to try this Eagle Rare! I'm sure you've tried some of these already, but my personal recommendations are Lagavulin, Glengoyne and Edradour.
You're right, it is completely biased towards scotch. I started with what I knew, but I am currently working on adding bourbon, rye and other whiskies outside of Scotland. Still lots of work to do on it.

This would be very useful for illegal mining activities as well.
Great list, thanks for compiling this.
Fight Island wasn't enough, next up is Fight Planet.
Wow this brought back memories of holy hand grenades and banana bombs. Thanks for keeping this alive!
