Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:43AM (#50300866)
Isn't this as it should be? I remember years ago I read about the "Bitcoin manifesto" or whatever. That a transaction "done is done, no matter the reason" its all part of the ideology of these kinds of things. Anyone know what quote Im thinking of?
It's all built on stolen content.
Re:ThinkRail from JetBrains on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:34AM (#50220282)
IntelliJ is excellent for doing the code review. The git and diff is top notch.

Then there is the DataGrip stuff, I use it all the time.

And the HTTP client (.http files!) is also good. It has built in scripting.

Notice here that none of these activities is writing code.

This enhances the understanding of what I am building with the agents. I’m sure the lazy dev will just skip this and will never see any of this, just let Claude completely take over.

Re:Way to Play Super Mario 64: On Apple Vision Pro on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @10:43AM (#50181901)
Agreed. Back when I used my Oculus a lot, a RTS game called Brass Tactics was my favorite.

Brass Tactics is forgotten today, but it represents a way of playing games that was totally unique and might some day be rediscovered.

EU should mandate that all devices must be unlocked when the vendor stops supporting the latest OS on the device.
I use IntelliJ without any AI and then Claude runs in Ghostty tabs. I find this quite optimal.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Thursday September 24, 2026 @01:18AM (#49826546)
The are quite careful from what angle they show the headset
I have Ghostty with Claude open with one tab per project. Then I have IntelliJ open also with one tab per project.

I find this setup works great for actually participating in the development. To understand what is happening and keep the mental model of what the project is about. Review in progress work in IntelliJ, use the Git, Database and REST(.http files) in the IDE as the agents generate the code.

I don't see a problem with this setup is it really that uncommon? Have people stopped using TOOLS completely? That said I don't have much interest in these JetBrains AI products, at least not currently.

Re:iCloud+ Hide My Email addresses will remain on icloud.com on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @02:45AM (#49429920)
As I user of this service I like this.

However filtering for these hide my e-mail addresses is quite easy if you are motivated to do it, they have a recognizable pattern.

This is very true
Re:Tim King, AmigaDOS developer, has died on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @11:47AM (#49274289)
This is an interesting "what if" story. What if they pushed on with CAOS, would it have been awesome or would the Amiga never have existed as a commercial product. We will never know.
Re:As a Windows user, it's a surreal way to install a program on Saturday August 08, 2026 @03:28AM (#49219635)
This is one of my favorite things with the Mac. I feel it is very intuitive me moving the app to Applications, then just move it to trash if it sucks and it is completely gone.

setup.exe .pkg installers make me feel dirty because I hav enough control over how it will fuck up my system or not.

Re:French musician Kavinsky found dead on Wednesday July 29, 2026 @09:34AM (#49097324)
Article is good but with one puzzling flaw. They mention protein is one of the culprits, but nothing about why or how.
I worked on this a few years ago but progress stalled.

Maybe with the tools that exist now (AI) this could be completed quickly. Would be an interesting challenge.

What about AWS, Azure, cloud computing?
Re:Linux on the Atari Jaguar. No, really. on Tuesday July 07, 2026 @06:06AM (#48815719)
I think this is very impressive. I remember from eons ago people were running Linux on Amiga, but then it was the later models with 68040 processors with more RAM.

As far as I remember no one ran it on a 68000 with 2 megabytes of RAM.

Could Linux today run on an Amiga 500 with RAM expansion, in this same way?

Re:Resetting Xbox on Tuesday July 07, 2026 @02:20AM (#48814272)
Go back in history, why did Microsoft create xbox at all?

It was Bill Gates fear of being overtaken by some "living room PC" or set top box that never materialized. It was an industry wild goose chase basically, with echos of past efforts (remember Philips CD-i ?)

Is this a concern Microsoft has today? xbox was a money sink from the beginning.

The sad part is they bought a bunch of very good game studios.

Re:1-Bit Pixel Art Emojis on Thursday July 02, 2026 @03:11AM (#48757639)
Another idea would be to make emojis that could be used as Amiga Workbench 1.3 icons. The Blue, white, orange and black kind.
Re:What Is a Dickover? on Saturday May 30, 2026 @03:11AM (#48333517)
If you zoom websites to be able to read them, like I do.

Then these are especially frustrating because I have to zoom out to find the close button. Its a chase every time, and sometimes I give up.

How are these allowed to exist when there are the EU Web Accessibility Directive ?

Re:No Slop Grenade on Thursday May 21, 2026 @01:57PM (#48226606)
Yes all the time. Healthy conversations are shut down immediately with the "AI research" slop-wall.

Meetings are 55 minutes of speculating about what AI will be able to do in a few years. Then if you are lucky the last 5 minutes can be used to discuss a real issue.

Re:Intuit to lay off over 3k employees to refocus on AI on Thursday May 21, 2026 @01:21AM (#48218203)
As a European I don't understand why this company exists at all.
Thank you precisely what I was looking for on the Windows side
This is great, I have a monitor with built in KVM (CORSAIR XENEON 27QHD240 OLED)

m1ddc works fine on my Mac, but why isn't there a single multiplatform cli tool that can be ran on Mac/Linux/Windows?

I need a Windows one for this to be useful for me.

Re:Turbo Vision 2.0 – a modern port on Saturday April 25, 2026 @02:58AM (#47899346)
A critical part that is somewhat lost when running this in a terminal is how the mouse behaved on a real text mode screen. It was a yellow block that you moved with the mouse not a mouse pointer.

Anyone tested to run this on a high resolution Linux text mode with GPM?

Remember, only big tech is allowed to pirate

Toilet flush chains. You entered two different park restrooms (both marked F) and combined them to a nunchuks.

With games we just need some really good slop filters on the storefronts. I mean this has been the case already for some time even before AI
