I'm building a project currently to request for open source library ports from one language to other, and this feature is also available. Where you can input a Library, and it will list a similar libraries.

Though, thinking to spin it off as a separate app altogether. Anybody wanted to help?

Yeah, sounds good. I'll add it today. I also am building another Ruby script which works on top of this to save the articles to pocket.

Ask HN: Feedback on my Idea

I am thinking of developing an web app for requesting open source library ports. Basically, people can post existing libraries in a language and request for an port to any language, others can vote it or provide any existing libraries already available. Also, people can assign themselves to work on a project and others can also work along with them. What do you think of it? any existing...

The points is just a threshold to get a good article instead of just anything. And, Algolia returns maximum of 1000 hits for a query with 20 per page. So shuffling the page to pick up too.
Always keep an open mind.

I had this problem that when knowing from others that things I have known are basically incorrect but wouldn't wholeheartedly accept it, given how factually their proof is. Whenever you need to correct yourself, analyze it and be ready to unlearn.

Always remember, there are dragons in earth and you haven't seen it. Yet.

Well put, I totally agree with you. I've worked in support team at two MNCs, and now being a developer now I can guarantee that there exists an really thick border between the two sects..

The differentiation is so deep, even the frequency of outings and the places they take you vary. The work timing differs, shift timing differs, perks differs. After all, the people who make things are revenue generators for the co, and we were nothing but easily replaceable pieces.

Ask HN: Giveaway / exchange domains?

There was this thread - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9334927 of people's stashed domains mostly because of hoping to see it live one day, but left out due to many cases..So, If any of you are willing to give-away or exchange domains with different TLDs we can do it here.,myself, I have codebetter.co and I would be happy to giveaway if anyone's interested..

Just list down the things you didn't liked about your Managers and don't do that..
Re:Ask HN: Is it possible to delete HN comments or profile? on Wednesday April 08, 2015 @08:44AM (#9340339)
There are many Austen's in this world.. If you ever felt like you want to quit, remove all your info from your profile.. HN doesn't even asks for an email address, so it's pretty easy to get disconnected IMO.

I do have one.. I'm using it for my blog, portfolio and my email address..

Wow, really neat and well executed.

I was thinking of doing an similar product but couldn't get time for it.. All the best for you guys.

BTW, Are you planning for global reach or targeting only local?

System Administrator / Infra consultant, because I was one before I made the choice.
Re:Ask HN: Why was React Native created? on Saturday March 28, 2015 @09:00AM (#9281356)
I think it's a mixture of both. Getting web devs to dip their toes into mobile development and vice-versa. I really don't see a reason for someone not to pick-up something that will give the best(not-exactly) of both worlds..

Think of the potential if a single language can be used to build apps in multiple platforms - web, mobile, desktop(node-webkit).. I think the language that currently satisfies this is JS and React-native is yet another extension to it.

Thank you Zed Shaw.. This is an excellent resource that has helped me to become what I am today.. I started learning Python using this book and he really takes time to ensure the readers understand what they are doing.

It may be too silly for you programmers, but almost every beginner programmers as me would have definitely cam across this resource. This has helped innumberable and I'm sure it will.. Thanks once again.

Re:Show HN: NoDJ – Your crowdsourced playlist on Thursday March 26, 2015 @05:18AM (#9268506)
Nice Idea.. Question: How the songs would be streamed? say, I add a song to the playlist, then I have to keep connected until the song I've added is streamed from my phone? or playing from youtube or other services?
That's a really cool app but it just meant to write entries and store it as our wish. But this was more of an journal which records all my ongoing entries and have a visual representation of all of them at one place.
Actually, the plan is to start with Dropbox and rolling out support for other cloud services, that's why.. Oh, there are no confirmation emails, I myself hate that.. Only reason email is at the register form is for `Forgot Password`, I've mentioned it in the about page.
Developer here.. This is my first user facing product after becoming a programmer (my journey can be found in my comments and posts here in HN).

I built this after searching for a journal app that just allows me to store my entries only to my cloud storage. There are many people who still prefer plain old text files for writing journal and this is an interface for them.

Would really love your folks' feedback on this thing..

I planned to implement features such as multiple cloud services, search, tagging, Markdown support all down the line based on the feedback and adaptability.

Re:Ask HN: Are you writing a journal? on Sunday March 01, 2015 @01:01PM (#9128115)
Wow.. just today I blogged about how there is no good secure journal solution, and ended up writing one for my own..

I am building one currently which stores the entries directly to cloud services and without all boatload of features.. just for writing..
