But what are the points used for?
Re:Windows11 26H2 is now available on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @12:58AM (#49904523)
Thanks for the reminder! The reports I'm seeing are saying that it's seemed to be pushing out without major issues, though that's also likely related to minimal changes...

I do have to say, that's one of the best designed/looking demos I've seen, and also immediately intuitive to understand; nice job!
I love this; also runs surprisingly smoothly (at least in browser; didn't check mobile). Also beautiful and hypnotic in motion. What's the next step that you want to take to develop it (not that there needs to be one)?
I assumed they meant that relative distance from Earth or orbit is to scale, not that the size of the dots was to scale, but I could be wrong
Re:Show HN: Sarala – An open-source WYSIWYG Markdown editor on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @08:48PM (#49902971)
Maybe it's me, but I'm having trouble figuring out how this is different (or better) than Obsidian, which is also free? Is it the open source aspect?
"why would I be impressed if I can just go prompt it myself?" I mean, I see what you mean, but this also reads like, "I found out my favourite author dictates their novels rather than types them out and formats them, which is lame; I can just make up stories and speak myself". It's the idea (and to whatever extent, the design intervention during the iterative process) from the human that's most useful and impressive, at least to me.
I like the design; simple but clean and ideal. I guess the ideal might be, if you're able to scan the barcode on something in the fridge (e.g. a carton of milk that's running low) and it automatically sends/syncs to the list on the outside of the fridge. Nice job and thanks for sharing!

I love this idea and this is a perfect example to demonstrate the concept!
"...if you have a bunch of apps and fitness monitors from different manufacturers, very few of them all talk to each other." I can safely say (or maybe confess) that this is exactly my situation and one that I'd love to see resolved. I currently use Oura, Whoop, and Fitbit devices simultaneously (testing out which I like best), and I think Google Health claims that it's integrating data between devices, but it's kinda inscrutable how much it actually is. Something that really verified data convergence between apps would be great, as well as a way to tell which data (in the converged app) was coming from which source, so you could identify which devices/apps you really needed to keep. I might just be an outlier, though... Which devices/apps are currently supported?
I'm curious; can you explain why you picked Pac-Man, in particular?

Nostalgia-fostering and well-executed; thanks for sharing!
Re:10 Tells of a Slop UI on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @12:53AM (#49888411)
Maybe I'm just too defeatist or depressed, but I feel like any somewhat-reliable tells of AI are going to be so transient that it's almost not worth the effort to identify and write about AI "tells", since they'll be "fixed" or avoided so quickly by a future iteration or prompt. (This obviously excludes the increasingly important work of people whose whole jobs are to ID AI use; I'm just talking about your average citizen here.) I do think it's easier to see in UI (like the author shows in this link) than in text, though...
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @12:48AM (#49888379)
Wait, I didn't even think about the plane implications; I'd be happy to trade "looking like a crazy person" for being functional on a plane. (Proof of this: I purchased a Pluto Pod for long flights, and that definitely requires habituating to looking very weird on a plane.) This comment is kind of turning me around on this...
I absolutely love this, and selflishly would love to see Montreal. Awesome work!
