Feels like this field has become a lot about doing the easy, visible parts, getting a month of attention, maybe a promotion, then moving on to the next "new project".

Meanwhile, the people who stay behind and actually make these half-finished apps work properly, maintain them and deal with all the boring problems rarely get the same credit or benefits.

And you (pedro_movai) == the author? So you are saying that potential issue? Sorry, technically you are right that the author is saying that but I got confused with you referring to yourself in third person. Nothing wrong with it. Just want to confirm if you're the author.

This is fascinating. I'm having a very hard time wrapping my head round how a statistical model designed to predict tokens creates output that contains such deep reasoning and insight about complex ideas that we'd think only humans can understand!

Yes, I know it's not just a dumb statistical model like a simple neural network. Yes, I know all about the vectors Q, K, V and how they contain long range contexts. But still! How does all of this emerge into something that can produce such insightful output? I still can't wrap my head around this. Am I dreaming? Am I living in a science fiction?

Re:OnePlus halts operations in USA and Europe on Thursday July 16, 2026 @08:58AM (#48933864)
Can someone explain the reason? I think I understand the "WHAT". I don't understand the "WHY". Why are they not going to launch new products in US and EU?

Is that an en-IN joke?

I read several blogs that use British English, including this OP's blog. Some of my favourite blogs in my RSS reader are British English blogs, or at least they use British English spellings and grammar. I find their use of the English language very charming and funny in a unique way.

It surprises me that anyone would feel entitled to ask a blogger to change the variety of English they use. American English is only one of many forms of English. The world is richer for its many varieties of English, and languages, and that diversity makes it more interesting, not less.

I totally understand the general advice of using actual XML DOM library for making DOM. But for my own understanding, I want to ask why the 5 escapes the OP suggests (&, <, >, " and ') aren't good enough? Do you see anyway to exploit it if these 5 are escaped? Someone kind enough to enlighten me?
Thank you. It is good to know that I am not the only one feeling this way.

Ask HN: How do you feel about posts about GenAI taking over the HN front page?

There seem to be a lot of opinion pieces about GenAI on the front page lately. How do others feel about this?I feel conflicted. I understand that GenAI is one of the biggest topics in tech right now. Yeah it makes sense that it gets a lot of attention. But I would find it a loss if the front page became too heavily skewed towards commentary on a single topic... more so when there are so many...

Aren't these 3 different implementations with totally different use cases? Katex is latex-like implementation for web. Ratex is really 'rewrite katex in rust'. I don't understand what is getting "bolted on" to what here.
