Doesn't web notifications do the same thing? or does that not work on mobile
Vegan for 10 years. Feel great when eating whole food plant based, get sick much less (and shorter durations) than before. Only thing I stumble on is junk food temptation, so many unhealthy but tasty vegan options now.

If you want to eat healthy, download the free app: Daily Dozen (a non profit made it) - it's super simple and gives you basic guidelines how to do it right each day.

Re:Ask HN: How to hire freelance developer for an MVP? on Thursday June 25, 2020 @11:50AM (#23642032)
Sorry I meant general tips apart from where to find them. Planning to post on various freelancer platforms. eg- how to qualify good ones, what should I look for in applications etc
There's no need to bother paying women equally for equal work at my employer (pointless to bother), what we need is changed laws to ensure women get fair pay in all cases. See how silly this sounds?

How about instead, both.

Right now plant based meat is well under 1 percent of the meat market in the US and it's realistic it could become the majority within 10 years. Who will get the bulk of that is up for grabs, I invested in a smaller competitor to beyond and impossible which had a much lower valuation but with product I think it's right up there with them. Personally I'm a big supporter of them all
Which version did you have? Was it 2.0?
I'm an angel investor in both plant based meat and clean meat and I'm actually more optimistic for plant based meat becoming better than animal meat in the short term. The rate of innovation has been really impressive and momentum is picking up steam.. once prices get under animal meat huge amounts of people will switch
Speaking as a vegan, by the numbers it's people like you not us who are the ones who are going to have the bigger positive impact on the environment by eating plant based options more often. It's encouraging to hear meat eaters being increasingly open minded...

Just be open with the fact you're trying to sell a marketing program and using this to try to get buzz.
I guess there must be a market for it, pizza hut wouldn't have launched it otherwise. btw, not sure if you've tried the recent V2 launches but impossible and beyond keep getting better year on year. I've had omni friends start to post positively about the over the past month or two which is a big change from even just a year or two ago.
As a vegan, I enjoy jackfruit occasionally but it's a a long ways removed from the taste and texture of the new generation of plant based meats.

If I'm eating healthy I'd rather go for other more accessible fruit, veggies and legumes and if eating for meat taste instead would prefer Impossible, Beyond, Gardein and Hungry Planet etc.

Terriying for us and future generations. Simplest actions we all can take: 1 stop eating meat (especially beef pork lamb) and dairy (especially cheese) 2 lower unecessary travel 3 get energy efficient appliances 4 buy less stuff 5 demand more action from govt and corporate world

Understand, and yes plan to share source for ingredients, where I can find them out myself. Thanks
Re:Ask HN: Open source food? on Saturday August 18, 2018 @01:38AM (#17787043)
Thanks, will take a look when at that stage
Re:Ask HN: Open source food? on Saturday August 18, 2018 @01:38AM (#17787038)
Not snarky at all. It's mostly about the manufacturing process (machinery, settings, process etc) that would make it different. This would be for a factory made product. THanks
Re:Ask HN: Open source food? on Saturday August 18, 2018 @01:36AM (#17787034)
Thanks

The audience is mainly other vegan entrepreneurs (or those who want to be) so we can help each other with formulations and industry knowledge. It's a mission driven company End consumers to a minor extent, as I guess some of the formulations are not useful without machinery to make them.

Re:Ask HN: Open source food? on Thursday August 16, 2018 @09:58AM (#17774628)
Thanks, hadn't thought of that angle before.

Yes would release all that information (basically what we know, we want our consumers to know, if they desire)

eg- agree on natural flavours, thats a big pet peeve of mine (I have no idea whether it's vegan or not, most cases am forced into a decision i'm not happy with)

Thanks, that DIY soylent is a good home-brew case study. I guess I have more other food companies in mind.
Re:Ask HN: Open source food? on Thursday August 16, 2018 @07:03AM (#17773586)
Thanks, wasn't aware of it. Seems its dead now, have to read up on why it didn't take off..
