I am 100% sure anyone can buy it. And I am almost equally sure, anyone using it will not get fined.
Re:The FBI Should Stop Attacking Encryption on Monday March 15, 2021 @07:04AM (#26464485)
Whether you can turn them off depends on your operating system. Most of them allow you to turn them off. What are you using? And if it really bothers you, why don't you switch?
Re:How to Android without Google on Saturday June 02, 2018 @03:37PM (#17216014)
Do they not provide fastboot images for the Pixel devices? I know I could just flash those images on a Nexus 5X.
Re:Secret Service Warns of Chip Card Scheme on Thursday April 05, 2018 @04:18PM (#16768484)
Wouldn't the criminal in this case be able to intercept the letter with the PIN also and replace it with a letter that looks the same but has the wrong PIN? The receiver would not be able to find out the PIN is wrong because the cards chip does not work at all.
Please be more specific. What is not true? That it is slower or that this is not the end of the world?
Re:Segwit2x Bugs Explained on Saturday November 25, 2017 @05:32PM (#15778359)
There is no way to determine what 95% of the community want for the future of Bitcoin. There is no community voting in Bitcoin. Only miner signalling. People can stop using Bitcoin after a change but there is no way to get their opinion in advance.
Re:Join the Battle for Net Neutrality on Wednesday November 22, 2017 @05:48AM (#15755852)
Do they block or throttle VPN traffic?
Re:Germany bans children's smartwatches on Saturday November 18, 2017 @09:50PM (#15731986)
This is not what he described. Removing any of these permissions must be handled by the app. The app shouldn't even know I removed a permission. It should just get empty or fake data.
Re:The Evolving Economics of Bitcoin, Gold and Fiat Currencies on Wednesday November 01, 2017 @10:21AM (#15601336)
The Bitcoin network cannot know or should it care about a fiat exchange rate. Which currency should it look at? Dollar? Euro? Why? If the block frequency of ten minutes is not met, the difficulty is automatically adjusted after 2016 blocks (ca. 2 weeks) up or down.
Re:Android Studio 3.0 Release Notes on Friday October 27, 2017 @05:43AM (#15566925)
But it still helps that they endorse it.
Re:Android Studio 3.0 Release Notes on Friday October 27, 2017 @05:41AM (#15566916)
As as developer I am totally happy that it increases my productivity. You know, you don't have to use it? It is not shoved down your throat. It is a supported offer.
That is a total nightmare. How are employers allowed to give that kind of information to Equifax? I do not get why Americans allow this.
Re:Volkswagen's New Camper Has a Loft Where You Can Stargaze on Friday September 22, 2017 @09:46AM (#15312090)
From the comments: "This VW was loaded with 1 ton of concrete - then driven into a barrier at 100Km/h. It was a crash barrier test..."
Re:Equifax’s Maddening Unaccountability on Tuesday September 12, 2017 @05:07AM (#15225851)
The problem is that this information can be used for identity fraud. You should really find a solution for that problem.
Re:Equifax’s Maddening Unaccountability on Tuesday September 12, 2017 @05:04AM (#15225841)
For remote identification we have for example post ident:

Article is in english: https://www.deutschepost.de/en/p/postident/identifizierungsv...

Is that really what the headline said? Because now it is: "Opioid Use May Explain 20% of Drop in American Men’s Labor-Force Participation"
Not giving them this information.

Every question to Google is an answer for Google.

As long as they are not looking that does not matter.
But one that is currently invisible to tax authorities.
How do I run this code? I thikn I succesfully installed the package with npm. There were some warnings but no error. But how do I run:

> const RiggedDie = require('gamblers-dice')

> const die = new RiggedDie(20) // for a d20

> console.log(die.roll()) // 1 -> 20

> console.log(die.roll()) // keep using the same instance

Do I put it in a file? Do I copy paste it into a REPL? If so what provides that REPL?

I am always surprised when sample code providers assume I know their languages ecosystem.

UPDATE: Apparently I can use "node" as a REPL for this.

Re:Killing car privacy by federal mandate on Tuesday July 04, 2017 @05:26PM (#14698406)
This is different. It is full surveillance everywhere, for every car and everytime. Not just some roads with cameras. Whose pictures (at least in Germany) are supposed not to be saved except for trucks.
Re:Underhanded Solidity Coding Contest on Tuesday July 04, 2017 @05:41AM (#14694700)
Nobody prevents you to write contracts in a more restrictive language. For example: https://github.com/ethereum/viper

Or create your own. I am sure the creators of Solidity are aware of its limitations and quirks. But as far as I can tell they felt they had to ome up with something fast. And it grew from there.

But as I said: Feel free to create your own language for the EVM if Solidity does not fit your needs or requirements. With a system allowing Turing completenes it should be possible to create a language that removes Turing completeness (for more security). It would be impossible the other way round.

What if both parties collude against you? Then you're in even more trouble. I don't get this paranoia against mixed gender one on one meetings at work. You're truly paranoid. I hope this is only a problem in the US. I have never heard of it in Germany or Europe. Do you really have an Anstandswauwau (chaperon) standing by? I would feel very weird participating only because a man and a woman cannot be trusted to behave professionally in a work environment.
Re:Another Ransomware Outbreak Is Going Global on Tuesday June 27, 2017 @04:17PM (#14648984)
Transaction fees only need to be high if you are in a hurry. If you can wait a week or two you can go with very small TX fees. As you can see in this graph even very low (5 to 10 Satoshi per byte) fee transaction are confirmed eventually. https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#24h
Not fixing the underlying security issues makes us all more vulnerable.
By publishing this they increase the vendors incentive to fix the security bugs.
Did you tell them? Did you ask them to stop? Did they ignored your wish?
Does the articles calculation include the nuclear waste that needs to be taken care of after it has served its purpose of producing energy? Or is this article only counting the radioactive emissions during power production?
Re:On Conference Speaking on Wednesday May 31, 2017 @05:05AM (#14451189)
Some speakers are more willing to give a talk when you record them. On the other hand it depends on the type of conference. There are conferences which are sold out for years and do not need extra money. They want people to be able to see the talk athough they did not win a ticket in the lottery. And this is true for conferences which are very different. Google I/O, Apples WWDC and on the other hand the Chaos Communication Congress. All of them offer recordings for free.
