Ig LLM's atoms are in data centers somewhere.

I own about 20 and 10 of them are live with projects that I built.
Re:Ask HN: After 8 Years of Failed Apps, Should I Give Up? on Sunday August 02, 2026 @01:42AM (#49141471)
For an app to turn into a sustainable and real business many factors come into play. I'm still pondering upon them myself.

As a founder what did you do differently this time with your new app that increases your odds of making it a success? Did you validate your idea before building or it was just your assumption that people would buy it? How painful or valuable the problem is that you are solving with your app? Is there a demand for your app or are you trying to create a demand too? Are you solving around just a convinience or a painful problem for people to care enough?

About app distribution, are you just hoping and leaving it to luck or you have a plan (even on a budget) to get some eye balls on the app? Many questions to pause and reflect about.

Re:Ask HN: What did you learn last month? (July 2026) on Saturday August 01, 2026 @10:33PM (#49140512)
Did you write code before? Or was it heads first straight with Claude Code? Do you recommend non-coders this approach to build something of their own?
Re:Ask HN: What's the Point of Your Startup? on Friday July 31, 2026 @08:23PM (#49129978)
I know of a social org which runs of entirely on its people's face to face interaction. And, these folks have consulted recently with me about how they can adopt tech to facilitate their ops. I can sit with a LLM and build a platform for them, but idk it will cover the entirety of their day to day nuances.

You can't just throw resources at a road with muddy puddles everywhere and let a autonomous vehicle figure it out all by itself.

A perfect predictable problem is solvable with large resources, but the minute you touch something human, you need a equivalent human judgement to give it the sought after direction.

I have a side project running since last 12+ years. It has about 3k users. The community built around the app makes me happy. I have probably made $120 from it in those years. Money was never how I measured its success.

Thanks, I will get in touch.
Re:Ask HN: Share Your Eccentric Hobby on Friday July 24, 2026 @11:45PM (#49044315)
How do you securely expose your local services through Tailscale or Cloudflare Tunnel? For eg. Is it possible to expose just web server instance on port 80 and nothing else? Even better if possible to just expose one web service. Also, is it possible to ensure no other local devices are accesible from public?
Re:Ask HN: Share Your Eccentric Hobby on Friday July 24, 2026 @11:41PM (#49044294)
Yes, indeed. I learned to play this board game from my father when I was about 8 yrs old.

I maintain an online playable version of a antique board game called Baghchal [1] which has origin stories about being native to Nepal since 3000 years. I actually launched this website on HN a decade ago.

I'd like to self-host personal projects as well but haven't been able to figure out way to do it behind NAT and also on a budget hardware. Is there a way to get in touch with you and get some ideas?
Re:Show HN: QBasic Gorillas (Repeeled) on Saturday July 18, 2026 @02:23PM (#48960709)
I was at awe when I ran MARIO.BAS on QBasic back in 1998. Probably I got the code from a QB forum. It kept me glued to screen for weeks.

I keep posting occassional reflections on work and Nepalese tech community.

Re:Ask HN: What Would Make Stack Overflow Great Again? on Thursday April 23, 2026 @08:43PM (#47884144)
If I were a PM at SO, I'd consider pivoting it to a social networking platform for programmers prioritizing relationships, messaging, jobs and interview support etc just enough features to make it not too generic like Linkedin.

Paid expert support in natural extension to bounty based q/a. Also, an AI with human in the loop.

Re:Ask HN: What are you building that's not AI related? on Sunday April 12, 2026 @06:38PM (#47745282)
I'm building a low-tech work tracker for my brother who is a consultant with small team.

Re:Ask HN: Any Interesting Niche Hobbies? on Sunday April 12, 2026 @06:35PM (#47745252)
Chess engine is already a solved problem, yes, but Baghchal would love some attention. I have been maintaining https://www.baghchal.net for more than a decade now and I dream of the day I could integrate Stockfish like Engine for Baghchal one day. I haven't gotten chance to dive deep into this myself because of work and personal reasons but it could be a great niche to explore since you mentioned about Chess. Look into it.

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026) on Thursday February 05, 2026 @07:35AM (#46898963)
It's on closed testing, not live for public yet. Could you please drop your email on the Request Early Access form which is above the footer of the landing page? I'd be happy to send you access details.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026) on Wednesday February 04, 2026 @09:04PM (#46894711)
I have been working on a minimalist and calm work/task tracking app called Dodolr (doo-doo-lr) which supports tasks (dodos), notes and follow-up since last few months. I deliberately didn't build notification or reminders and leave it to the user to be fully accountable for completing their work (moving tasks to terminal stages). I'm building it for 3 local customers. Would be happy to give Early Access to any solo founder and power user who prefer non intrusive tools to keep a tab at their work. The app works well form small 1-3 person team very well.

The landing page is at: https://www.dodolr.com

Please submit the Early Access form if you want an access. Happy to answer questions here as well.

Ask HN: How can I get better at using AI for UI design?

Platform like like Lovable, Bolt and V0 produce stunningly nice looking UI even for a fairly simple prompt like "Build a modern AI app directory website" but giving similar prompts to ChatGPT or Claude produces a very basic looking web page.Do you guys have tips or suggestions on how to get better UI designs using ChatGPT, Claude etc?

I bought jotnus.com for similar idea but it never saw a light of the day.
Re:What is the most effective way to learn programming? on Saturday December 13, 2025 @11:37PM (#46260791)
You need a fire on you a* to build a software yourself. Next time you have an urge to buy an app or a software, give a shot at vibe coding it with AI and piecing the software together yourself. You will learn a lot along the way.

At some point, spend a good time learning the grammar and syntax of a programming language (can be any). This will make you navigate vibe coding with ease.

Does Goji mean a pocket?
If you don't have an old device lying around to make use of, here's an X thread I found a while ago supporting similar habit for kids: https://x.com/ValKatayev/status/1926734004314624481

I have set up a similar Google sheet for my 12 yo, which is shared with him on view-only mode. He loves the idea that he's earning $$ every day out of his savings. He's on fire to grow his investment to the point that he earns $5 every day, "while sleeping". He's currently making ~$2/day.

I setup an old Kano OS on Raspberry Pi 3 for my 8 yo boy. He managed to finish challenges upto Level 8 by himself mostly. The OS has block based programming challenges and games. The Pi PC is his and he is hacking it whenever he feels like. No pressure, not forcing him to learn coding or anything. I'm curious how it will unfold in later years.
