Re:GitHub to layoff 10% and closing all offices on Thursday February 09, 2023 @12:23PM (#34727508)
Gitlab and Github look like they are forked from the same branch. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/02/09/gitlab-layoffs-company-to-cu...
It's hard to believe that people working in one of the most seek-ed/desired jobs in the Valley / tech world, are unaware of how things might be elsewhere.

This was published on `01-April-2020`. So was it a joke or was it not?
Re:Please log in with router's password on Wednesday August 11, 2021 @07:54AM (#28140868)
On a side not, it's super annoying when you want to log in into your router, and google chrome auto completes / suggests it with 192.168.l.l, or ends up doing a google search for 192.168.0.1.
boolean answer = No;
This article was specifically a claim about the number of deaths.
Hopefully this inspires people to get rid of daylight savings time, which is rather an archaic concept in the current day and age.
Re:Apple's iCloud+ “VPN” on Wednesday June 16, 2021 @09:05AM (#27528058)
Does this mean that all DDoS mitigation techniques need to exist before the exit node of this traffic? Which in turn mean, that everyone needs to outsource their DDoS mitigation to Apple.

Also the corollary would be, that anyone who is able to bypass the protection mechanisms Apple has in place to control DDoS, can use it to DDoS a service like Google, Microsoft and get the entire service banned for all iCloud+ users. Right?

Re:Apple's iCloud+ “VPN” on Wednesday June 16, 2021 @09:01AM (#27528025)
My guess is one of the major reasons for having the exit nodes in the same geo location as entry nodes is to have continuous operations in China. Without this constraint, they would have allowed chinese consumers to access the free web, which would ban them instantaneously.

I don't think Apple cares as much about video content providers, though.

How does this happen? AV1 encoding codec was still work in progress, and most chips don't support any hardware acceleration for this. Can we get reasonable frame rates on core CPU for av1 encoding already?
So is this Zircon kernel based? Or just fancy name for linux?
Re:Why are there so many Canadians in India? on Monday May 03, 2021 @07:35AM (#27023796)
A lakh is 0.1 Million. What's your point?
Well this breach is an old breach from 2019. People should stay up to date with security breaches.
It may be a boring dystopia, but, you can't be fined for the same crime over and over again, can you? https://www.dw.com/en/facebook-data-on-millions-of-user-acco...

Apple believes simplicity, but where did it lead them? iPhone 4,5,6,7,8 was good. But now we have have iPhone 12 Pro Max Pink
Re:Product Manager vs. Product Marketing Manager vs. Product Owner on Wednesday February 03, 2021 @06:15AM (#26012629)
"Getting out of the building" in metmorphical send might give you view from people / customers you can visit. This is likely to be a biased sample, and unrepresentative of the true customer.

Running A/B tests is IMO, a good proxy, to understand customers unbiased binary views on feature changes, and objectively better.

91.6% is a good efficacy. Do they have plans to test it against other variants (E501Y mutation)? Ideally this + the adenovirus based AZD122 seems to be the best combination of (efficacy, affordablility, and logistically feasibility) end for the pandemic. https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/coronavirus-why-combining-... is another such article which talks about it.
Re:Shorting and Indian capital markets on Friday January 29, 2021 @05:58AM (#25956080)
A lot of movement in GME was driven by call options, which is generally available in all markets. However, absence of overnight short positions would definitely diminish the trigger GME needed to get short squeezed and become volatile in the first place.
